Apparently Michigan is the place to be for Summer Stock 2026! Senior MT Vivian Lakin is working at Young People's Theater directing Seussical and Madagascar, co-directing Once Upon A Time, and co-choreographing Mean Girls. Junior MT Marlie Dietz is at Tibbits Opera House stage managing Rock of Ages, Elephant and Piggie, We Are in a Play, The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe; and assistant stage managing The Marvelous Wonderettes, Dear Evan Hansen, Balloonacy, and The 39 Steps. Sophomore MT & EDP major Annabelle Otto is at Interlochen Center for the Arts as the lighting technician for their summer concerts and camps.

Whether performing, stage managing or being a camp counselor, students are taking by storm. At Kentucky's Pioneer Playhouse, recent MT grad Brady Griffin is appearing as Jonathan/Charles in "The Play That Goes Wrong" and the ensemble in "The Iron Baby Angel" (an original play). Traveling north to Dayton, Ohio, Lindsay Lydy, a junior BA, is a camp counselor for "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" at Dayton Live Creation Academy, and stage manager for "Annie Jr." at Kids and Company. Even farther north in Adrian, Mich., Ella Stoll, a sophomore MT, is appearing as Ethel Levey in "George M!" at the The Croswell Opera House. If you're in the area, see them at work!

and students recently returned from an unforgettable, life-changing journey through Italy. Exploring cultural landmarks in Rome, Florence, and Pompeii, the students immersed themselves in world-class museum tours, live theater performances, and deep-dive studies of the Renaissance. Many thanks to professors Emily Jay and Joan Robbins for organizing this incredible experiential trip and teaching the preparatory Renaissance courses this past spring semester. 🇮🇹

Jessica Sanders, BFA '26, began working on “The D8tes” 18 months ago. She was noodling a song on the piano when the idea to write a musical popped into her head. “I thought ‘let me just try this,’” she says. “I really didn’t think it would go anywhere, but the ideas kept flowing.”
