Spent a couple hours on the beach today after a two day road trip from Michigan to Daytona Beach to take my daughter back to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University for the start of her 3rd year. I just love the sound of the breezes, the crashing waves and the bird calls. Beautiful day to paint on the beach. 🏖️

Summer’s Last Dance. Oil on panel. Inspired by the yellow coneflowers dancing in the breeze on the bluff at Sleeping Bear Inn. 12x16 inch.

Summer’s Edge at Glen Haven. Watercolor on Arches paper sealed with UV varnish and cold wax. Inspired by the magnificent colors of this beautiful place where you see dancing flowers on the foreground and tiny sailboats in the distance. I experimented with modern and abstract colors and techniques in this piece. 12x14 inch’s.

Getting ready to start. I have two full kits set up. Watercolor on the left and oil on the right.

Magnificent vista. The colors are gorgeous. You can see North and South Manitou Islands in the distance and Petoskey up around the bay.

Loved watching these birds get a drink of fresh Lake Michigan water and play in the waves.

Quick Draw paint out is over! I was able to paint from the bluff at Sleeping Bear Inn because I am a guest here. Such a how to look over the bay surrounded by the morning breeze rustling the flowers, butterflies floating and visiting. The wet paint sale is today only at the Glen Arbor Townshio Center from 4-6 pm. It’s an amazing show. The paintings are really high caliber.

What a day! Spent the morning driving all around the area scouting places to paint. Ended up driving to Traverse City for emergency car repair. Spent about five hours there but fortunately was able to make it back to Glen Arbor in time to line up for the Sunsetter Paint Out registration. I was there 15 minutes prior to doors opening and artists were already lining up! Only 50 artists are accepted. I was worried I wouldn’t get a slot, but I was number 44/50. Hurray! Tomorrow is the quick paint event. I’m having a great time up here. If you’re in the area there is a sale tomorrow from 4-6 and Saturday from 5-7.
