This is one of my favorite paintings I’ve ever done. It’s a scene that stood out on a recent woodland wander.

I’ve had a strong desire to capture wandering through the woods and how that feels. How do we capture the organized chaos of nature and its pleasures for the senses? I’ve struggled with how to do that, particularly with watercolor.

My trip to see and admire the impressionists at MFA Boston helped me break through with a technique I am pleased with, the bright colors I love overlapping to create texture.

I recently made a trip to Boston to visit the Museum of Fine Art and the Gardner Museum. It was so inspiring. Coincidentally 🙂 there is an art supply store nearby where I picked up some pocket watercolors and watercolor postcards. It’s been beautiful weather for painting outside. Looking forward to sharing some mini art with friends ❤️

I haven’t spent a lot of time in the studio lately because I’ve been enjoying working in the garden. The moon daisies and clover are popping up everywhere!

I’ve done some experimenting with different types of clay. I love this azabache. The deep color is so beautiful. I haven’t fired this yet but I’m excited to see how it turns out!
