When we first announced the return of this year's Melbourne Taiwan Film Festival, we wrote: "Five years on, and we're still here — gathering through film, story, and light."
As in years past, we were fortunate to have like-minded intern and volunteers join us in bringing the 2026 Melbourne Taiwan Film Festival to life.
Over just three days and four screenings, we stood alongside these companions at ACMI and witnessed connections form between audiences, cultures meet across difference, and the power of post-screening conversations with directors to move us all. These fleeting, luminous moments left a shared imprint on everyone who was part of it.
The films ended. The lights came up. The crowds slowly dispersed. This weekend, we gathered with the people who made it happen — not just to say thank you, but to look back together at the moments that stayed with us. It is in gatherings like these that we, a group of Taiwanese far from home, find ourselves writing our own festival story.
"Isn't the view spectacular?"
And with that, the 2026 Melbourne Taiwan Film Festival draws to a close. The moments we built together, the memories forged at ACMI or online through chance and circumstance, will flow forward with time, becoming part of a life story still being written.
Until next time, when the lights at ACMI dim and the screen comes alive once more, and another Taiwanese film finds its audience in the cinema —

一開始宣布今年墨爾本台灣電影節回歸時，我們寫著：「五年了，我們還在這，以電影、故事與光影相聚。」
和往年一樣，我們有幸與志同道合的實習生與志工，一起完成了 2026 墨爾本台灣電影節。
短短三天、四場電影的放映，我們跟這些夥伴在 ACMI 見證觀眾之間的連結、不同文化的交流，以及導演映後座談所帶給大家的感動。這些吉光片羽的時刻，也在每一位參與者心中，留下一部分的共同記憶。
電影結束，燈光亮起，人群漸漸散去。這個週末，我們與一起努力的夥伴聚餐，不只是致謝，也在餐桌上回望今年那些令人難忘的片刻。這樣的時刻，讓我們這群在異地打拼的台灣人，共同寫下屬於我們自己的電影節故事。

2026墨爾本台灣電影節至此畫下完美的句點。那些共同完成的時刻，那些因緣際會在ACMI 或線上共同走過的回憶，將隨著時間流轉，成為我們未完的人生故事一部分。
期待下次，當ACMI 燈光調暗，銀幕再次亮起，又一部台灣電影在戲院與大家相聚。
