here are some of my water based paint brushes. Sables and Synthetics.
These few are what I've used on the current works. I've been accumulating brushes for several decades so I doubt I will run out any time soon. If you take care of your brushes, they will last many years. I have some possibly 40 years old.
If you notice in the bottom left of the image, there is a container of brush cleaner and preserver...works well with the sables

For line work on the panels I use the Ronan One Stroke. It is an oil based enamel with high density finely ground pigments lending itself well to thinning and flow out, I use squirrel hair sign painting brushes for the line work or natural bristle for larger surfaces. CLean up and thin with mineral spirits. As a rule, I never use sables with this paint as they tend to become very floppy or "loose their snap"

this what i use for the enamel paintings. Generally for application of the colors I prefer the Ronan Aquacote. It is water based, dries fast and easy clean up. I use Kolinsky Sable brushes for the most part although synthetics are fine too. I have a hotplate set low to keep water warmed for thinning and cleaning.
The gallon shown is an oil based enamel used for the coating out of the plywood panels (applied with natural bristle, spray or roller). Clean up and thin with mineral spirits.
