Abington Summer Concerts

The ASC Committee is looking forward to a great summer of music at the Catherine and Joseph Nisby Bandstand. While the Abington Community Band and SheBop Swing Orchestra along with Studio Two - The Beatles Tribute and Divas with a Twist are confirmed we need your help to round out the rest of the summer. The deadline to be a Sponsor or Donor is May 15th. We rely on individuals, families, attendees, businesses and organizations to support the concerts. No Town funds are used.

Our budget this year is $22,000. This includes the eight free Sunday night concerts at the bandstand plus, supporting Abington Celebrates and sponsoring the band at the fireworks on June 7th and at Oktoberfest on October 5th.

Please help us reach our goal and mail the Sponsor/Donor form or drop your donation off at Abington Town Hall to be included in this year's program.

Stop by Cream - Abington today. A longtime supporter of the Abington Summer Concerts.

You’ve seen us at the concerts, fireworks, not so scary woods, private parties and many other events. Our second year in business we were asked to do an event at Southfield (now Union Point). We rented our cart for the weekend. Ted Cummins and Jan Prall both encouraged us to purchase it but $10,000 was an enormous investment. We did it on faith that it would at least pay for itself. What a great investment it has turned out to be! Looking forward to seeing you at the summer concerts and many other events! Today’s phrase is “Abington Summer Concerts”. Do you enjoy live music? Would you like to be part of a committee that brings music to the Catherine and Joseph Nisby Bandstand during the summer?
The Abington Summer Concerts Committee is looking for additional members. One opening is available now and two more will begin on July 1, 2025, but you can apply now.
We are a committee of volunteers appointed by the Board of Selectmen. If you are a resident of Abington here is the link to complete the form.

The 21st season of the Abington Summer Concerts opens on Sunday, July 6th at 6 p.m. We also need a few Sunday night volunteers as greeters, clickers (counting attendees) and general helpers for the many attendees coming to the concerts. It's fundraising time! The ASC are supported by generous Sponsors, Donors and attendees at the concerts. We do not use town funds.
If you've been a sponsor or donor before, we have your address and letters were mailed April 1st.
If you would like to become a Sponsor or Donor here is the form to submit to the ASC Committee.

We're excited to announce that our new website is up and running! https://www.abingtonsummerconcerts.com/ It's still a work in progress but a special shout out to Mike Rule who joined the ASC Committee on July 1, 2024, for all his hard work.

Around April 1st our Sponsor/Donor form will be uploaded and anyone who has donated in the past will be sent a letter. The ASC Committee plans to hold eight concerts beginning Sunday, July 6th but we need your support. Our budget is $22,000 and donations must be returned by May 15th so we can send the program to the printer. The lineup will be revealed around June 1st.

Here's a hint to a returning band. This will be their 12th consecutive summer performing at the Catherine and Joseph Bandstand.

We're looking forward to our 21st Season because "Music is Grand at the Nisby Bandstand."

It may be January but who is excited for summer? The Abington Summer Concerts opens 6 months from today on Sunday, July 6th.
This band was here in 2014 and 2018, so we thought it was time to bring them back again. Opening our 21st season will be "The Roy Scott Big Band".
"Music is Grand at the Nisby Bandstand"!

Monday night at the Board of Selectmen's meeting Nancy Reid was presented with the "Abington's Best" award for her 20 plus years of dedication to the Abington Summer Concerts. She was also presented with a Citation from the State House.

Nancy was celebrated at the last concert this summer and is retiring as chairperson of the Abington Summer Concerts Committee effective June 30, 2025. She will now be able to come on Sunday nights and just sit and enjoy the concerts.

Thank you, Nancy for everything!

The Abington Board of Selectmen met on September 23, 2024 in the Cotter Room at Town Hall.

Once again Abington Summer Concerts is partnering with Abington Celebrates for Oktoberfest weekend the 4th-6th. Below is the schedule for the weekend. We hope you can join us.
On Sunday, Oktober 6th ASC is sponsoring the "Double Eagle Oktoberfest German Band" from 1-3 under the tent next to the American Legion located at 1027 Washington Street.
Come get some Oom-Pah-Pah.

Sunday, August 25th was the final concert of our 20th Season. It was also a tribute to Nancy Reid as she retires from 20 years as Chairperson of the Abington Summer Concerts Committee.

There is a lot of work to be done as she wraps up 20 years and finishes out her term on June 30, 2025, and passes on the torch. She wants to "attend" the concerts, sit in the audience and finally have time to enjoy them.

What she has done for this town is beyond words. One of her favorite sayings is "If they build it, they will come." Nancy was happy in the beginning with 200-300 people attending a concert. Last year the largest attendance for one concert was over 1,500.

Thank you, Nancy, for all your hard work bringing the best live music on the South Shore (and beyond) to the Catherine and Joseph Nisby Bandstand.

Nancy always finishes her writings with "A Song in My Heart", which she has left in the hearts of all who attend the concerts.

And now the end is here, the buntings are down until next year.
We must admit we shed a tear because for now there’s no music here.
Our 20th anniversary has come and gone but we will return before too long.
Soon it will be time to search the lands because “Music is Grand at the Nisby Bandstand”.
