Amy Kimmel, Early Dance Program
“It is a joy to have the opportunity to teach these sweet young dancers! It is so much fun to be able to leap into imagination with them through stories, movement and dancing. I view each class as a little adventure, teaching my students foundational skills while engaging them creatively. I hope this can help spark a lifelong love of movement, and that along the way they can discover their own stories in the world of dance.

While I may only be part of the first chapter of these dancer’s stories, I work alongside amazing instructors who have shown me that these young students have a wonderful dance adventure ahead of them at Dance Conservatory of Maryland. It is inspiring to see their passion for the art of dance reflected in their teaching. They give dancers individualized instruction and attention, helping them grow in their technique and confidence, providing each dancer with the opportunity to develop their own passion for this beautiful art.”

Huge Congratulations to Madison (first girl from the right) on becoming a Ravens Cheerleader! We were lucky enough to rent out our studio space to Madison over the last couple of months to help her prepare for tryouts. Clara Garcia, Pre-Professional Ballet Program
“From grade school to college, I have looked up to so many of my dance teachers who cared deeply about my journey as an artist. Now that I am in that position, it’s a bit surreal that I have the opportunity to have the same influence on the lives of my students. My hope is to share a love and joy of dance with my students, so they not only learn how to persevere in excellence, but can also learn how to move in a way that is uplifting, beautiful, and inspiring. While dance can be highly disciplined, it is also like a kind of therapy for the soul. Being able to pass that along to other young dancers is an honor.

Teaching at DCM has been such a wonderful blessing! The students are joyful and hardworking while the environment is professional, supportive, lighthearted, and fun. I love being able to help students thrive in this passion and it’s so awesome to work with the talent here!”

Ashley Spears, Elementary Ballet Program
I love teaching dance because it is the ideal vehicle for empowering students. I love helping young dancers see that they can overcome challenges and attain high standards. Watching my students gain confidence and pride through hard work, discipline, and passion is extremely rewarding. I also enjoy passing on the reverence and magic that comes from being a part of a tradition and legacy that has been around for centuries.

“I have loved ballet since before I can remember. As a little girl, I would wake up every day and ask, “Is today ballet day?” As a ballet teacher, I stress proper technique and forming a good foundation. I never want one of my students to ever have to unlearn a bad habit. But more importantly, I want to foster the natural joy, wonder and imagination that dancing can bring to my little dancers. My hope each day that I teach is to inspire each child to ask, “is today ballet day?”
Here at the Dance Conservatory of Maryland, I have found a wonderful group of teachers and dancers who share my passion for artistic excellence and my love for all of my students. I am so lucky to get work at this extraordinary place where every day is ballet day.”
