Maybe it’s time to take that voice somewhere new! 😉 Hearts in Harmony Women’s Barbershop Chorus is looking for women who love to sing to join them as they prepare for their fall concert.

They’re welcoming additional singers as they rehearse for their upcoming Fall-a-Palooza A Ca****la Concert.

🎨 A blank wall, a big idea and a whole lot of community spirit!

The new mural at Cisco College is coming to life—and today, the community gets to help paint it! 🖌️

Stop by 8–11 a.m. at 717 E. Industrial Blvd. to grab a brush and add your own splash of color. No art experience necessary!

Artists, students, organizations and community members are coming together to transform an outdoor space into something beautiful, inspiring and uniquely Abilene. ❤️

Public art is even better when the public helps create it. We can’t wait to see this mural finished!

What’s the story with the dinosaur riding in a Volkswagen…on a ROOF? 🦖🚗 (Across from the NCCIL).

Meet Dinosaur Bob, created by Texas artist Bob “Daddy-O” Wade for Abilene’s 20th Annual Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition in 2000.

Bob is the lovable character from William Joyce’s children’s book Dinosaur Bob and His Adventures with the Family Lazardo. And the Volkswagen? It fits right into Wade’s quirky body of work, where cars—especially VWs—make frequent appearances.

A children’s book character. A Volkswagen. A rooftop. Only in the Storybook Capital of America®! ❤️📚

Twenty-six years later, we still love Dinosaur Bob—and we’re still celebrating Abilene’s tradition of outdoor sculpture with SculpTOUR.

Mark your calendars for the 46th SculpTOUR, Sept. 18–19. Take a tour of sculpture throughout Abilene, discover new pieces, and explore the work of new artists as sculptures across the city change and evolve.

Next week, we’ll begin saying goodbye to outgoing sculptures along the railroad tracks as we prepare for new works to take their places.

**We’re BACK!** 🙌 It’s a happy Fri-YAY at The Depot!!
The AC is working, and we’re all back in the building!

It takes a village—or, in our case, a pretty incredible community like Abilene—to make it through a long, hot summer.

From the local businesses who cut concrete, removed the old units, installed the new ones, wired thermostats, and handled all the pieces in between—to the friends and community partners who opened their offices, boardrooms, and back rooms to us so we could keep working in the AC—**thank you.**

We’re cool. We’re grateful. And we're so glad to be back! 🎉

Abilene Chamber Invites Community to Celebrate Firehouse Subs’ 1,500th Restaurant Opening

The Abilene Chamber of Commerce invites Chamber members and the community to join the Redcoats on Friday, Aug. 21, for the grand opening of Firehouse Subs’ newest Abilene location, a celebration that marks a major milestone for the brand as its 1,500th restaurant opening.

The new restaurant is located at 2608 Enterprise Drive, Abilene, TX 79601.

The celebration will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a grant presentation to the Abilene Fire Department, highlighting Firehouse Subs’ continued commitment to supporting first responders through the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.

The Abilene Chamber Redcoats will then join the Firehouse Subs team for the official ribbon cutting at 11:30 a.m.

“Celebrating Firehouse Subs' 1,500th restaurant is an incredible milestone for our brand, and we're honored that Abilene is part of that story,” said Chad Fulkerson, Owner/Operator and franchisee. “We've been proud to serve this community through our first restaurant, and we're excited to continue expanding our presence with this second location.”

Fulkerson said the celebration is about more than opening the doors to a new restaurant.

“Supporting our local first responders through the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and welcoming even more guests into the Firehouse Subs family is what this celebration is all about,” Fulkerson said.

The Abilene Chamber encourages the community to come out, welcome Firehouse Subs to its second Abilene location and celebrate this exciting milestone for both the company and the Abilene community.

It’s our first day without Skylar, and we’re already missing that sweet smile! 💛

After a summer of jumping into everything from CALF and the Winnie-the-Pooh 100th birthday card project to preparations for this year’s SculpTOUR, our wonderful summer intern, Skylar Young, is headed back to UT for another year of school.

We love her, we’re proud of her, and we’re going to miss her around here. But this isn’t quite goodbye—we’re already looking forward to having her back in Abilene for SculpTOUR weekend!
