Today is World Autism Awareness/Acceptance Day!

Whether you prefer to use the infinity symbol or puzzle pieces, or the color red, or blue. We can all agree that we all have the same goal! And that is to continue to raise awareness and acceptance of autism. And of course to continue to advocate and fight for our loved ones who are on the spectrum.

I pride myself on being inclusive and a safe space for my fellow special needs families. And I will continue to raise awareness/acceptance because we all deserve to live in this world with love and understanding, and without judgement.

Over winter break, my kids and I got the chance to go out to Abilene, TX for a couple weeks, to visit my husband who has been working out there! It’s a small town, pretty much in the middle of Texas.

And just north of it is the Historic Fort Phantom Hill. Where you can see a couple of the original stone buildings, and over a dozen of the original stone chimneys still standing! It was a pretty cool historical site to visit. And a great area for all of us to get out and let the kids explore! They even had brochures that you can use to do a self guided tour, that talked about the history and showed us where each building would have been and what it was used for.

At first my husband and kids were all weary of going but once we started walking around and talking about the old buildings and what not they all ended up getting into it. I highly recommend checking it out if you ever end up that way! And it was only like a 30 minute visit, give or take, which was just enough time for us!

Oh and did I mention, it’s completely free to visit!

Anyways, here is one of the chimneys! I have many more pictures to share though!

January Self Portrait: Glitter

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday!

I had been waiting months to do this shoot lol. And I learned A LOT. Like don’t use fine glitter, chunky glitter will show better, and choose a color that is opposite of your skin tone! But I still managed to make it work, despite the challenges of this shoot. I’m definitely going to have to redo this one in the future!

Anyways, looking back on the past year, it wasn’t the best in my personal life. But in my professional life, I had a lot of growth, and excitement! I chose to put myself out there more and opened myself up to taking portraits. Which then lead me to meeting some amazing families!

And one of those families even gave me an amazing opportunity of going to the Autism Action Partnership Gala to network and meet more people. Which then lead me to be inspired by another local small business’ story when they won an award at that gala! I’ll always keep that night and that business’ story in my mind and close to my heart.

I then got to meet another small business owner, and she gave me another amazing opportunity to take pictures for her business! Which inspired me even more! I got to meet even more people and families through that opportunity, and I’ll be forever grateful for that.

And last but certainly not least, I got another opportunity to sell my landscape prints at a local shop! Which of course meeting the owner of that shop was also a great experience, and I hope to be able to continue with this venture as well!

Going in to this new year, I hope to continue to have amazing opportunities, and of course meet more amazing people! I have some fun things planned as well. I’m starting to get back into my watercolors, after a couple years of taking a break from them. I’m excited and so ready to get back in to them! And hopefully I can post more of that journey soon!

I just want to say thank you to everyone I have met this past year, you all have inspired me and have given me some amazing opportunities! I am forever grateful and I hope to meet more people, and of course would love to see those I’ve met again.
Also, thank you to my family and friends who have been so supportive! I truly appreciate you all!

Here’s to a new year!
