On behalf of the Louisiana Cattle Festival Association, we would like to thank all that submitted an application for the 2026 La Cattle Festival Scholarship.
Join us in congratulating our 2026 Louisiana Cattle Festival Scholarship recipient, Lily Perrin🎉
Lily Perrin’s involvement in the cattle industry began long before she could fully understand it. As a sixth-generation cattle rancher, agriculture has been a part of her everyday life for as long as she can remember. Growing up, she says she learned early that the cattle industry is built on responsibility, long hours and a deep respect for the land and the animals we care for. As a young woman in agriculture, those lessons taught her that hard work, consistency and knowledge matter far more than stereotypes.
Through 4-H and FFA, she has been actively involved in showing registered Hereford cattle at the parish, district, state and national levels. Preparing cattle for shows taught her far more than halter breaking or grooming. It taught record keeping, financial responsibility, genetic selection and the importance of animal health and nutrition. Competing in class and showmanship, livestock judging, meat identification, agricultural talk meets and public speaking contests strengthened my confidence and communication skills, helping find her voice as a female advocate for the beef industry.
Looking ahead, Lily plans to attend McNeese State University and pursue a double major in Agricultural Business and Animal Science. Her goal is to work in Cooperative Extension, where she can educate producers and youth, support family-owned operations, and serve as a visible female leader in agriculture. Lily also plans to pursue additional training in ranch management and considers earning her master’s degree to strengthen her leadership and business skills. Lily states the cattle industry is not just what her family does, it is who she is and is committed to helping shape its future as a woman in agriculture.
