Don't forget to bring your kiddos out to audition for "Tell It On the Mountain" this Monday at 7 pm! We are thrilled to have this heartwarming Christmas production take the Opera House stage this December, and to have a great opportunity for both adults and kids to perform! We are still looking for young female auditionees for these two roles, as well as plenty of young girls, boys, and teens!

WHITNEY: female, 12-15, sings.
WILLOW: female, 8-12, sings.
LOCAL CHILDREN: male and female, 6-15, sing

Are you planning to audition next week?!! The Opera House is ready for you!! Auditions for “Tell It On The Mountain,” a new Appalachian Christmas play with music, will be held October 10th, 2022, at 7:00 PM at the Abbeville Opera House. This show will be directed by Tony Dunlap and performs December 16, 17, and 18 at the Abbeville Opera House!

SYNOPSIS
When world famous heavy-metal British guitarist, Mick Ansley, suffers severe injuries from falling off a mountain in South Carolina, he is found and cared for by a family of “hillbilly” musicians who live a simple life in a remote valley. As Mick gets to know the Stafford family, who are preparing to celebrate their Old Christmas Homecoming, he realizes there’s much more to life than pursuing wealth and fame and finally discovers the true meaning of Christmas.
We are auditioning for the following roles. Older and younger actors will be considered, if you can believably play within the age ranges given. Most roles will require an ability to carry a tune and have adequate skills playing a musical instrument.

CHARACTERS
MICK: male, 25-40, British, sings, plays guitar.
AVERY: female, 25-40, sings, plays guitar.
JEWELL: female, 45-60, Avery’s mother, sings.
HARLAN: male, 45-60, Avery’s father, sings, plays guitar.
LEM: male, 20-35, Avery’s brother, plays banjo, or another stringed instrument.
CLAY: male, 25-40, plays guitar.
LESTER: male, 35-50, a hillbilly gangster, not required to sing or play.
TITUS: male, 30-70, a moonshiner, sings, plays mandolin, or another stringed instrument.
ERIC: male, 25-50, not required to sing or play.
EARL: male, 20-60, not required to sing or play.
MYRTLE: female, 35-50, sings.
WHITNEY: female, 12-15, sings.
WILLOW: female, 8-12, sings.
MAURICE: male, 20-60, sings, plays either guitar, banjo, upright bass or fiddle.
LOCAL CHILDREN: male and female, 6-15, sing.

Our cast and crew for "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" had a wonderful opening performance last night, and are back at it for two more performances today! Director Brad Christie, cast, and crew have beautifully brought Robert Fulghum's touching vignettes to life through music, energy, and heartfelt connection to the stories. It gives us so much joy to look back on these smiles from our Romeo and Juliet camp last month! This was Day 4 of camp, where all 30 of our participants were actors, crew members, set painters, costumers...you name it! Abbevillle Community Performing Arts works for moments like these, where kids and teens from surrounding communities can come for a fun, immersive theater camp at a very low cost. We are so proud of our team for putting this together, and we hope that we can continue to make moments like these through the support of our community! We have auditions for "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" starting at 3 pm, and all thirty of our kiddos participating in our Romeo and Juliet production camp have their first day tomorrow! This theater is ready for some auditions! Are you? Come out on Sunday, June 5 at 3 pm and Monday, June 6 at 6 pm to audition for "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten," directed by Brad Christie! There are parts for available for 4 women & 4 men, ages 16-96, and theatre experience is not required to audition! Auditionees are encouraged (but not required) to attend both auditions. The show performs Friday, July 22 - Sunday, July 24.

"All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" is a series of heartwarming, funny, and touching vignettes from the best-selling books by Robert Fulghum. Share. Play fair. Wash your hands. Flush. This play paints the importance of just a few of these simple, timeless life lessons that everyone may have learned, and suggests that the answers to some of our deepest questions, struggles, and fears might be found at the desks of our old kindergarten classroom. We're so eager to see the community up on stage, so come on out!

Woah! This weekend is going to have something for all ages to enjoy!

This Friday Sacred Heart will be having their second Fish Fry, tickets are $15. Then head on over to The Abbeville Opera House the Abbeville Community Performing Arts' production of "Catfish Moon." Tickets are $16 and can be purchased at aftontickets.com/acap?aff=city

Saturday take in an "Easter egg hunt" around the downtown merchant shops. Most shops will have fun games and goodies for the whole family. will be having a $25 paint and take workshop. Tickets can also be purchased for a 7 p.m. showing of "Catfish Moon."

On Monday you can also head on over to The Greater Abbeville Chamber of Commerce to hear from Nicole Quinn - Motivational Speaker during her power of positivity workshop from 6:30-8:30.

Thank you for a wonderful event. The silent auction was fun. My daughter was so excited to win a basket. The food was great. The new seats look amazing. The announcements of future plays made me hopeful for live community theatre coming back to Abbeville. It was a joy to see so many people willing to come out in support of community theatre.
