UPDATE: The Bugisu LC5 Chairpersons yesterday met with the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Oboth Oboth, for productive discussions focused on advancing the development and strengthening of the Bugisu sub-region.

The meeting was also attended by Members of Parliament from across Bugisu, who joined the deliberations on key issues affecting the region.

Bugisu MPs Donate UGX 25 Million for Bumutoto Imbalu Ceremony

The Bugisu Parliamentary Caucus has donated UGX 25 million towards the Imbalu ceremony in Bumutoto. The funds were handed over in Mbale City by Hon. Emmanuel Biara Wepukhulu, Hon. Sarah Wekomba and Hon. Metrine Wanzala Musufa.

Imbalu Organising Committee Treasurer Nabende Guga welcomed the contribution.

Meanwhile, committee chairperson Kigai Hosea Kimono called for accountability over the UGX 50 million government grant previously released for the ceremony, saying more funds should be directed towards the main Bumutoto event.

Leaders also urged organisers to prioritise the welfare of traditional surgeons and circumcision candidates ahead of Saturday’s cultural ceremony.
