Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei is a Ugandan long-distance runner, Olympic Gold Medalist, World Champion, World Cross Country Champion, and World Record Holder. Cheptegei is the tenth man in history to hold the 5,000 m and 10,000 m world records concurrently, both set in 2020.
He was born in September 12th, 1996 , from Kapchorwa, Uganda by Parents: Stephenson Kwalya Munerya and Irene Chemusto.
He weighs 52 kg and has a height of 1.67 m.
He serves Uganda police and was promoted from the rank of inspector of police to the rank of assistant inspector of police by the Inspector general of police on September, 20th, 2021 after winning a gold and a silver medal.
These are his words to the World:"When they say on your marks, I feel the pressure is going away from me, because, before the start line, you always have this kind of pressure. You feel like your stomach is full, but then, when they say on your marks, that means that is the beginning of a new different path.
A path that is either going to lead you to success or a path that is going to lead you to a learning curve. When the gun fires, now no stress, it is just dressing no more tension, you have done it not for your self but to make your people proud, you have made fans proud, you have made a sport count; I will tell my self, IF NOT NOW, IT'S NEVER..."
