Youth & Hip Hop Uganda Youth & HipHop Uganda is a skills initiative to empower youths by acquiring artistic as well as development & leadership skills. Like our page for updates

Between 2011 and 2016 BAYIMBA (www.bayimba.org) ran the "Youth & Hip Hop Uganda" programme with the support of the Danish Centre for Culture and Development with the overall aim of improving and bridging the socio-cultural and economic gap between youths in Uganda. It does so by supporting youths in acquiring artistic (hip hop) as well as development and leadership skills that can enhance socio-cu

ltural and economic transformation across diversities. Because of the success and impact on a huge number of youths in Uganda, elements of the "Youth & Hip Hop Uganda" programme - such as the Hip Hop Boot Camp - are now included in a wider 5-year creative industry development programme of BAYIMBA that is investing in building capacities across the arts and cultural sector with the support of Belgian Africalia (www.africalia.be). • To convey /artistic creative skills to youth
• To convey (creative) entrepreneurial skills to youth
• To build leadership skills and self-esteem among youth
• To develop innovation amongst young people
• To generate employment opportunities for youth
• To enhance career chances of talented youth
• To encourage collaborations between youth from different regions
• To connect youth from Uganda with the wider world

WHAT IS ETHNO?
Ethno is JM International’s exchange program for Folk, World and Traditional Music. Founded in 1990, it is aimed at musicians from 18 - 47yrs with a mission to revive and keep alive global cultural heritage. Present today in over 40 countries and on all 6 continents, Ethno engages artists through a series of annual international music camps as well as workshops, concerts and tours, working together with schools, conservatories and other groups to promote peace, tolerance and understanding.

Ethno Uganda scheduled for 21st – 28th Aug. 2022 – will take place during the week of Bayimba International Festival of the Arts that is held at Lunkulu Island the home of BAYIMBA – located off the shores of Lake Victoria in Mukono and Buikwe district. With an ever-growing audience, Ethno participants should look forward to an energetic learning, sharing and collaborating with musicians from around the continent.

Ethno is open to artists from Uganda, Chad, Zimbabwe, Portugal, Rwanda, Somalia, South Africa, Ghana, Morocco, Kenya, Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, Tanzania and United Republic of
Comoros.
