Last week we were honored to host Caroline Adriaensen, Head of Cooperation, European Union Delegation to Uganda who met with our digital team. They are working so hard behind the scenes experimenting with digital technology to reimagine what our virtual edition will look like. Stay tuned for the official start of the virtual biennale. Learn more about the Biennale here: http://kampalabiennale.org/kab20-onlineprogramme/

This gesture was well received and goes further to show the European Union’s commitment towards supporting and contributing to innovative efforts geared towards the growth and development of the cultural sector in Uganda, the Biennale being one of them. .

BEHIND THE SCENES:

Stage 6: Meet a software developer and the frontend engineer of the project. He is the final station in the process before the exhibition is ready to be presented to the public. Isaac’s role is to create the graphic interface that the public can view and interact with the exhibition ie. the final website where the public will get access to the virtual exhibition and information on the immersive experience that is KAB20.

BEHIND THE SCENES:

Stage 5: Meet Edward Mutesasira, a software developer and the backend engineer of the project. His role is to create a framework on the website where information that gives context to the exhibition ie. information on artists, data capture etc can be seen.

BEHIND THE SCENES:

Stage 4: We chat with Sseggujja Micheal a Motion Designer and Animator at Elupe House of Comics and Animation. After the rendering process, the team at elupe does the compositing and image filtering. This process is where multiple layers of images or video elements are combined to create a final still or moving image. This also involves the adding of CGI (computer-generated imagery) e.g smoke, running water, etc.

BEHIND THE SCENES:

Stage 3: We chat with Rujumba Martin the CEO PC GAMERS' HUB Uganda . After the texturing stage his company comes in to provide rendering equipment in the project. Rendering is the process where the models that have been created of the virtual space are generated into clear images by means of a program software. is the only company with capacity to provide this scale of rendering services in Uganda.

BEHIND THE SCENES

On our second stop looking at the virtual world creation, we are chatting with Ntaate Laurean Pyler the project lead of the design team in KAB20. He is also director Tribe Uganda. He uses “texturing”, “rendering” and camera placement as part of the process to make the virtual biennale.
