The destruction of property worth millions and the loss of livelihoods is a stark reminder of the urgent need for responsible development and disaster preparedness.

While I empathize with the affected individuals and businesses, I also express deep concern about the ongoing construction at the Nakivubo channel and its potential impact on the surrounding communities. We must investigate the circumstances leading to this disaster and hold accountable those responsible.

To the traders and business owners who have lost their livelihoods, I pledge to work tirelessly to ensure that you receive transparent and fair compensation for your losses. As a leader, I will prioritize the needs of our people and work towards building a resilient and sustainable city that serves the interests of all Kampalans.
