MAPIA ONE Dictionary VS Silver X : SOUTH SUDAN’S MUSIC LEGENDS DEBATE TURNS HEATED COME HOME AND FILL FREEDOM HALL.
A fresh storm is brewing in South Sudan’s music industry after singer Mapia One launched a strong challenge at veteran singer Silver X, who is currently based in Sydney, Australia. Mapia One questioned whether Silver X deserves to be included among South Sudan’s music legends, arguing that talking about achievements is not enough when the work and impact do not match the reputation. He pointed out that several artists who started their careers around the same period as Silver X are still actively releasing hits, performing for huge crowds and filling major concert venues in South Sudan.
Mapia One then raised the stakes by challenging Silver X to return to South Sudan and prove his current influence on the ground. He argued that for Silver X to come close to him in terms of achievements, he should come home and fill Freedom Hall in Juba, a major concert venue where Mapia One says he has already achieved two sell-outs.
Silver X, however, did not take the remarks lightly. In a sharp response, he questioned how Mapia One could have won the competition, suggesting that corruption may have influenced the outcome. He added: “How could Mapia One win this competition if not corruption yajamaaa? No, I can’t accept. Let’s vote again.”
The exchange has now sparked a heated debate among South Sudanese music fans over what truly defines a legend longevity, hit songs, consistency, influence, or the ability to bring thousands of fans together at major concerts.
With both artists standing their ground, the question remains: Who truly deserves a place among South Sudan’s music legends?
