Artwork outside the white cube is always interacting with its environment. Cotton Blues in the context of Kampala, Makindye Hill, puts the artwork in conversation with equatorial light, architectural features and sounds of aliveness. It is here that the biography of this ongoing series can evolve - from where the images were taken in Benin, to Laeïla Adjovi’s (.iyabo.adjovi ) studio in Dakar, to the public debut in the 15th Dakar Biennale at the Palace of Justice and now at Latitude 0º. As a practice of light, photography does something else with its subjectivity when adding material of glass - creating new interactions with space.
Is there a place that you want Cotton Blues to light up?
