My Heritage, My pride
Uganda is referred to as the Pearl of Africa because of its extreme beauty that is showcased in its wildlife, landscape, water bodies, climate as well as the people in different parts of the relatively small geography which occupies an area of about 236,040 square kilometers.
The people of Uganda are of different tribes and have unique Ethnic cultural practices which make them different and special from one another however much they are in the same geographical location. The 56 tribes in Uganda make it a destination of diverse culture and heritage. They have different cultures and beliefs and these are seen through the way they organize ceremonies, and rituals, how they carry out traditional practices, and their different ways of singing and dancing with unique traditional equipment.
Uganda has three main linguistic groups; the Bantu who are the dominant group are found in the central, western, and southern parts of the country, the Nilotic and the Central Sudanic in the north, northeastern, and west Nile regions of Uganda. Tribes under each group speak closely related languages but have different cultures, beliefs, and practices. Ugandan Culture and practices have seen different aspects. some of the Examples of Cultural Practices in Uganda include foods, ways of dressing, marriage, family, and gender status, religion, etiquette among many others.
The Miss Culture Uganda organization wishes to celebrate young women by empowering them to love their culture since they are the mothers of this great nation, using “My heritage, My pride” as the theme of Next year’s Competitions.
The pageant is a culturally constructed ambassadorial National Beauty Contest to create National Culture ambassadors that will promote awareness of the culture and heritage of their tribes, build a connection with each other’s culture/tribe, and promote empathy, equity, and understanding…
