WARNING, THIS POST IS GOING TO CUT DEEP
after the Ti-Ecita concert where we saw most of our musical legends perform I have a serious warning to the artists in my generation since we have a really big number.
If you are have good musical ears and u can make a good difference between classic music and trash then pay keen attention here first..
We had for a long time paid less attention and stopped learning from these legends like Ghetto Boys crew, Jm Kennedy, Black harmony etc. These guys not only had good production but creativity and lyrical content was great.
Take time and listen to their songs one by one and you will realise 90% of my generation artists can't even fit in the legends shoes. We have alot to learn and prove.
You can see how the crowd enjoyed as these legends performed. It wasn't because they missed Thier old friends .but because these guys made for us more records than hits. Almost every song they did has never been forgotten unlike today.
Today's musicians are full of usless ego, and I know more which slows Thier learning process only to end up doing some bubble gum music that they call trend. Poor lyrical content, little creativity, WE MUST LEARN.
I carefully listened to most of the black harmony songs and realise no today's musican has the guts to even talk when black harmony says something. Same thing to Jm Kennedy, the very old songs of Kennedy addressed issues as they entertained us. These songs will live for generations to come.
And lastly I have always said today we are singing songs without knowing the future . Do songs that won't embarrass you during old age. When you are invited to perform them as a lesson to the younger generation.
I hope this small post triggers a force of change inside you and we make that change together. Today we must be happy with the advancement of technology, social media and advanced marketing tools . Let's use it well.. the legends had non of the things we had digital today . They survived .
