Математикиня Марина В’язовська, одна з героїнь проєкту «Наука – це вона», освітнього арт-проєкту STEM is FEM за підтримки ЮНІСЕФ та UN Women Ukraine / ООН Жінки в Україні, стала лауреаткою Філдсівської премії. У сфері математики – це одна з найпрестижніших нагород, буквально еквівалент Нобелівки.

😱 За 86-річну історію нагороди Марина В’язовська стала другою жінкою, що отримала медаль Філдса. До цього серед жінок нагороду отримувала лише іранська математикиня Мар’ям Мірзахані у 2014 році.

🤔 За що Марина отримала премію? Науковиця розв’язала задачу, над якою століттями билися науковці зі всього світу. Вона найщільніше упакувала сфери у восьмивимірному просторі. Також жінка стала співавторкою подібного дослідження, але у 24-вимірному просторі.

🙌 Що цікаво, розв’язання задачі для восьмивимірного простору зайняло 22 сторінки, а для 24-вимірного – 12. Для порівняння, на розв’язання подібної задачі, але у тривимірному просторі, науковець Том Гейлз витратив 300 сторінок.
