The BURSA gallery is a multidisciplinary project dedicated to the organization and development of initiatives in the field of modern culture and art. Its sphere of interest is understanding of the new visuality, broadening the boundaries of contemporary art and performative practices, working with new media, and an experiment. The goal of the project is to become a meeting point for the new emergi

ng generation of the Ukrainian artists and the modern spectator. Our mission is to create favorable conditions for the development of a local creative scene and the introduction of Ukrainian cultural context to the international one, and vice versa. In Bursa - art happens not only within the gallery walls; it spreads and conquers "Beliy Shum" cafe and bar, a conference hall and a library – all the way to the rooftop bar "1818". Bursa gallery is a research center. A new exhibition is organized every three months under a guidance of a new curator. The gallery arranges the whole process of creation, providing materials and financial support for young artists. Starting 2019, Bursa will host an art residency for multidisciplinary creators from Ukraine and other countries. It is essential for us to keep our atmosphere independent from the influence of the art market. For this reason, Bursa gallery is financed solely through the revenue coming from Bursa hotel operations. Bursa gallery is an educational space. The gallery hosts lectures, workshops, film screenings and other cultural activities. We are eager to establish creative connections with local residents, art groups and social initiatives, especially Podol-based ones. Bursa gallery is open to any kind of collaboration on a basis of mutual respect and love for diversity.

На даному етапі ми не проводимо виставки у зв'язку з переходом на новий освітній формат роботи. Зараз відбувається реформація простору галереї, в ній буде знаходитися лекторій, кінотеатр і майстерня. Галерея BURSA продовжить працювати в новому форматі з 2020 року, слідкуйте за оновленнями

Минулого четверга в галереї відбулося портфоліо-рев'ю спільно з Photo 5.6. Рев'юери Jerzy Jura Onuch, Mark Neville та Viktor Marushchenko відзначили проекти найобдарованіших молодих фотографів. Саме їх роботи ви побачите незабаром в BURSA Gallery!

Our Story

BURSA Gallery is a multidisciplinary, fully non-profit project focused on the creation, implementation, and promotion of artistic and cultural initiatives in Ukraine. Our mission includes supporting Ukrainian artists and projects that seek new visuality, experiment in traditional arts, and work with contemporary media. The purpose of the project is to become the meeting point for a new generation of Ukrainian artists and their audiences. We want to create favorable conditions for the development of a local creative scene and the introduction of the Ukrainian cultural context to the international one – and vice versa.

The basis of the gallery's practice is expeditionary activity, during which we establish contacts with artists, curators, and institutions from all corners of Ukraine to form exhibition plans and generate ideas for future projects. Curatorial selection is focused solely on its relevance and our aesthetic preferences, rather than the financial profitability of the project.

Starting from 2019, BURSA Gallery will be hosting an annual international artistic residence for multidisciplinary artists, as well as launching a patronage program. Participants of this program will help support fresh art and the gallery’s work.

We believe that art should be accessible to everyone, so entrance to all exhibitions is free.
