Good day, dear friends! Happy New Year and Christmas to everyone! May he be happy for everyone and bring Victory and the long-awaited Peace to our country! The Third International Competition named after Oleksiy Horokhov was held in Porto in July 2023, thanks to the support of our friends from Portugal. Special thanks to the member of the jury of the second Competition, which ended in Kyiv on February 16, 2022, on the eve of the barbarian invasion - Pedro Carneiro, for his great enthusiasm, organizational work and the holding of this competition in Portugal. This is invaluable support and a sign of respect for Ukrainian violin art. I want to mention the laureate of the second prize of the 2022 competition, the talented violinist Olga Rukavyshnikova, who has been defending our country in the battlefields since the first days of the war! Huge thanks to the Heroine for her courage and bravery! The winners of the 2023 Oleksiy Horokhov Competition in Porto were: Veronika Taraban, Svitlana Klinkova, David Gonzalez, Irene Gonzalez, Matviy Merimerin, Oleksandr Kushnaryev, Adriel Colomb, Mykola Pososhko. The next Oleksiy Horokhov International Violin Competition will be held in Porto on July 14-20 2024. Violinists of three age categories will be able to take part in it: up to 13 years, 14-17 years and 18-30 years. The first qualifying round, based on entries. Younger group: 1. Etude solo, 2. H. Teleman - one part chosen by the participant. Middle group: 1. Etude, or solo caprice, 2. Two parts from the scores of J. S. Bach, excluding the Chaconne. Senior group: 1. Etude, or caprice solo, 2. Y.S. Bach - the first, second or third, fourth parts of the Sonata solo. The second round is offline, in Portugal. Younger group: 1. F. Kreisler - a play chosen by the participant, 2. Concert play. For the middle group: 1. F. Kreisler - Recitative and scherzo for solo violin, 2. Concert piece. The total performance time is up to 15 minutes. For the older group: 1. "Epitaph" for solo violin by the Portuguese composer Carlos Filipe Cruz (notes will be provided later) and 2. The first movement of any Sonata by L. van Beethoven. The third round - for the younger group: the first part of one of the next concerts of Y.S. Bach - A minor, E major, J. Viotti 22, 23, Sh. Berio 7,9. For the middle group: the first part of one of the concerts - G. Veniavskyi 2, F. Mendelssohn in E minor, M. Bruch in G minor, A. Vietan 2, C. Saint-Saëns 3, E. Lalo Spanish Symphony. For the senior group - the first part of the following concerts: J. Brahms, J. Sibelius, P. Tchaikovsky, V. Kosenko's Concerto in its entirety, F. Mendelssohn in E minor, K. Saint-Saëns 3, N.
