Our concert on KyivPride is at risk!
On the eve of our concert as part of a charity event in KyivPride Park, the event organizers are facing pressure from the National Police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Instead of offering protection, they threaten to block the venue and frighten the organizers with unverified claims of attacks and even a terrorist threat, none of which have been officially confirmed or addressed.
The use of fear to silence and cancel LGBTQ+ events is unacceptable, especially at a time when other public events are taking place on the same day and in the same location.
We call on the National Police of Ukraine and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to ensure transparency and stop obstructing civil society.
We call on allies, officials, media and international partners to stand with us.

Команда громадської організації «КиївПрайд» завжди прагне до конструктивного діалогу з представниками усіх органів влади України для сприяння забезпеченню правопорядку мирних заходів, які ми проводимо. Кожного року ми зіштовхуємося з багатьма викликами й намагаємося не виносити у публічну площину тривалі процеси обговорень та навіть протистоянь з боку органів влади.
Наразі ми вважаємо, що оприлюднення ситуації, яка складається навколо проведення щорічних заходів КиївПрайду, є єдиним можливим кроком протидії тиску з боку поліції й Міністерства внутрішніх справ України.
7 червня 2025 року КиївПрайд планує проведення благодійної освітньої події КиївПрайд Парк на території ВДНГ – Національного комплексу «Експоцентр України», у павільйоні «КИТ». Протягом останніх днів ми регулярно ведемо комунікацію з представниками Міністерства внутрішніх справ, Національної поліції, Міністерства юстиції, Київської міської військової адміністрації, дирекцією Експоцентру України та представницями павільйону «КИТ».
Ми вимушені констатувати, що Національна поліція України замість сприяння у забезпеченні правопорядку під час мирного заходу, намагається протидіяти проведенню нашої події. Зокрема, поліція залякує дирекцію Експоцентру України та представниць павільйону «КИТ», запевняючи, що на подію буде здійснено напад за участі 1000 людей. Водночас в неофіційній розмові Міністерство внутрішніх справ повідомило, що їм відомо про загрозу терористичного акту, якому вони не можуть ніяк запобігти. Так, у зв’язку із нібито «потенційним терактом» поліція планує заблокувати входи в Експоцентр (ВДНГ), якщо орендарі павільйону «КИТ» не скасують заходи КиївПрайду. Проте за весь цей час поліцією та/або Міністерством внутрішніх справ не було надано жодної офіційної інформації.
Громадська організація «КиївПрайд» завжди відповідально ставиться до оцінки ризиків та питання забезпечення безпеки. Проте якби ми відмовлялися від проведення заходів через загрозу потенційних нападів, мінувань або терактів, в історії України не було б проведено жодної події КиївПрайду або Маршу. Адже такі способи блокування подій використовувалися роками й нам прикро бачити, що зараз знову відбувається застосування таких самих методів як роки тому.
На наш погляд, немає різниці між проведенням благодійної освітньої події КиївПрайд Парк та десятками інших масових подій, які проходитимуть, зокрема, 7 червня у Києві чи в Україні загалом. Цього ж дня у Києві буде проходити Міжнародний Фестиваль документального кіно про права людини «Docudays», «Веган Вікенд», а на території того ж Експоцентру України відбуватиметься Фестиваль сиру та вина.
Єдина різниця полягає у небажанні Національної поліції працювати із потенційними ризиками та їх вирішенням, у відмові виконувати свою місію: забезпечувати охорону прав і свобод людини, протидію злочинності, підтримання публічної безпеки та порядку.
Ми публічно звертаємося до Міністерства внутрішніх справ України з вимогою надати ГО «КиївПрайд» правдиву інформацію щодо можливого терористичного акту на території ВДНГ; надати інформацію щодо заходів, які були вжиті задля попередження можливого терористичного акту або нападів на заходи КиївПрайду; припинити тиск на громадськість, бізнеси та державні інституції, які підтримують боротьбу ЛГБТІК+ людей за наші права.
Ми закликаємо громадськість, медіа, представників та представниць органів влади, народних депутатів та депутаток, іноземних дипломатичних місій та міжнародних організацій підтримати забезпечення прав людини та висловити свою позицію.

KyivPride statement on police pressure
The KyivPride team always strives for a constructive dialogue with representatives of all Ukrainian authorities to help ensure law and order at peaceful events we organize. Every year we face many challenges and try not to bring prolonged discussions and even confrontations with the authorities into the public domain.
At the moment, we believe that publicizing the situation surrounding the annual KyivPride events is the only possible step to counteract the pressure from the police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
On June 7, 2025, KyivPride plans to hold a charity educational event KyivPride Park on the territory of the National Exhibition Center of Ukraine, in the "KYT" pavilion. In recent days, we have been regularly communicating with representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police, the Ministry of Justice, the Kyiv City Military Administration, the management of the Expocenter of Ukraine and representatives of the "KYT" pavilion.
We are forced to state that the National Police of Ukraine, instead of assisting in ensuring law and order during a peaceful event, is trying to interfere with our event. In particular, the police are intimidating the management of the Expocenter of Ukraine and representatives of the “KYT” pavilion, claiming that the event will be attacked by 1000 people. At the same time, in an informal conversation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that they had been informed of the threat of a terrorist attack, which they could not prevent. Thus, in response to the alleged “potential terrorist attack,” the police are planning to block the entrances to the Expocenter (VDNH) if the renters of the “KYT” pavilion decide not to cancel KyivPride events. However, so far, no official information has been provided by the police and/or the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
KyivPride always responsibly addresses risk assessment and security measures. However, if we had refused to hold events because of the threat of potential attacks, bomb threats, or terrorist attacks, there would not have been a single KyivPride event or March in the history of Ukraine. After all, such methods of obstructing events have been used for years, and we are sorry to see that the same methods are being used again as they were years ago.
We do not see any difference between holding a KyivPride Park charity educational event and dozens of other mass events that will take place, in particular, on June 7 in Kyiv or in Ukraine as a whole. That same day, Kyiv will also host the Docudays International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, Vegan Weekend, as well as Cheese and Wine Festival on the premises of the same Expocenter of Ukraine.
The only difference is the unwillingness of the National Police to work with potential risks and their solutions, and the refusal to fulfill its mission: to protect human rights and freedoms, combat crime, and maintain public safety and order.
We publicly appeal to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to provide KyivPride with truthful information about a possible terrorist attack on the territory of VDNH; to provide information on the measures taken to prevent a possible terrorist attack or attacks on KyivPride events; to stop pressuring the civil society, businesses and government institutions that support efforts of LGBTIQ+ people to defend our rights.
We call on the civil society, media, government officials, MPs, foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations to support the protection of human rights and express their position.
