Jay Z made big waves announcing the launch of his streaming service Tidal, which aimed to make streaming music a better deal for artists and a pricier deal for consumers.

Tidal's social media push included a star studded spokes-panel of Mr. Carter's friends. Beyoncé, Kanye West, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and more of the industry's wealthiest artists urged users to switch to Tidal because of it's "high fidelity" sound.

But the public didn't seem to buy into the spectacle. After a couple of weeks into its release, the streaming service made less of a splash and more of a doggy paddle, barely competing with their streaming nemeses Spotify and Pandora.

Tidal cracked the US iPhone top 20 download chart for two weeks before it sunk all the way down out of the top 700! And they've only made their enemies stronger — Pandora and Spotify took the No. 3 and No. 4 positions of the US iPhone revenue chart!

It looks like the company's anti-Spotify movement only increased the public awareness of the streaming service!

Tidal is now scrambling to recover. They replaced their CEO in a "streamlining" move, but we're thinking it might be too late for Jay's baby business to stay afloat.

Lil Wayne may be the one stoner today who is actually productive -- he just dropped a new music vid on the holy day of pot, and in a brilliant biz move he did it with the help of a popular "w**d finding" app.

Wayne teamed up with Weedmaps to release, "Hollyweezy," from his mixtape "Sorry for the Wait 2."

We're told Weezy is partnering up with the company -- which pinpoints nearby medical ma*****na dispensaries -- because he is a longtime advocate for legalization and reform. Also couldn't hurt that the site will get a ton of traffic on 4/20 ... and therefore more eyes on his video.

Wayne appropriately dropped the vid at 2:20 PM. Just kidding, of course it debuted at 4:20 PM EST.
