Today marks the 81st anniversary of Victory Day in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression—a day to remember the courage and sacrifice of those who came before us. Just 85 kilometers from the hustle and bustle of downtown , there's a place that brings that history to life.
📍Yuzishan Memorial for the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression sits quietly by the Jingdong Grand Canyon in Pinggu District, surrounded by rolling green mountains. Inside the 400-square-meter memorial hall, old photographs tell stories of resilience and hope. It opened its doors to the public decades ago, but the hills around here have been whispering those stories for much longer.
Not far away, you'll find the original site of the Jidong Base—where, in July 1940, five Communist Party members formed the area's very first Party branch. From that moment on, locals stood together, fought together, and never gave up. They called this place "Unbeatable Yuzishan." And honestly? Once you know the story, you'll understand why.
