✨🐾 It's Ting! ✨🐾

Ting has discovered that some of improv’s best ideas arrive precisely when you don’t have one. For her, the freedom to change your mind, adjust, and discover something new is part of the magic. She’s especially fascinated by imperfect characters, believing their flaws and contradictions are where real depth and richness begin. If Ting could play one form forever, it would be the Montage: anything goes, the possibilities are endless, and no one knows where the next scene might lead. That flexibility has followed her offstage, too — improv has taught her that when life refuses to follow the plan, sometimes one small adjustment is all it takes to find a new way forward. Her favorite recent Improv Battle memory wasn’t one individual scene, but the feeling of an entire team trying new things together and somehow moving in exactly the same direction.

💃 Meet Phoebe! 💃

Phoebe has been improvising with FIG Formosa Improv Group 福爾摩沙即興組合 since FIG began eight years ago, growing alongside the group through workshops with international coaches, collaborations with fellow improvisers, and performances at the Manila Improv Festival in 2023 and 2026. Lately, she’s been setting herself a particular challenge: playing male characters with greater depth and authenticity. After experimenting with them in short-form for the past two years, she took a major leap at FIG’s August show — committing to a male character for an entire 90-minute long-form performance! Holding that bold choice for the whole show gave her the space to discover a richer, more grounded character, and the enthusiastic audience response confirmed what she hoped: it WORKED. For Phoebe, it was a deeply satisfying reminder of what can happen when an improviser makes a strong choice and commits all the way.

🦝 It's Francisco! 🦝

Francisco believes great storytelling doesn’t need spectacle — sometimes all you need is one room, strong characters, and the right conflict. Inspired by the Brooklyn Nine-Nine episode “The Box,” he’s fascinated by how much story can emerge from simplicity. Onstage, Francisco is especially drawn to grief and all the strange, contradictory emotions that coexist alongside it. Surprisingly, boxing has become part of his creative toolkit: both the ring and the stage put him into the same intensely present headspace, where everything outside the moment disappears. He sees every performance and every new joke as risking a tiny piece of his soul, though he suspects his biggest artistic gamble is still waiting around the corner. If his improv were a genre? Tragicomedy, naturally — just like his life.

🥕 It's Panda! 🥕

Panda has learned that in improv, you can’t always judge an audience by its face, especially after one seemingly unimpressed spectator surprised him after a show by saying how much they loved it. Onstage, he admires scene partners who seem completely unflappable, ready to embrace whatever madness arrives, and he’s determined to cultivate that same easygoing confidence. His favorite games are the ones that force action before explanation: soap-opera chaos or games where someone must always be standing, sitting, or lying down. Act first, justify later! Improv has even given Panda a philosophy for life’s trickier moments: when you’re completely stuck, sometimes you just have to say, “And scene!” A recent Improv Battle highlight saw Panda and his teammates frantically juggling five or six characters — a Middleditch & Schwartz-style challenge that was equal parts demanding and exhilarating.

🤙 Meet George! 🤙

George discovered improv three years ago and has spent the last two diving seriously into the glorious art of making it up as you go. His training has taken him from American Improv Theatre in California to The Peoples Improv Theater and Magnet Theater in NYC, plus Improv Hawaii and Manoa Valley Theatre in Honolulu. His favorite recent scene began with the ultimate improviser nightmare: walking onstage with absolutely nothing in his head. So he simply copied his scene partner — and somehow found himself playing a preacher teaching his son how to sermon, laughing so hard by the end that tears were streaming down his face. For George, it perfectly captured one of improv’s greatest lessons: just say words. Don’t overthink, don’t over-plan, and trust that whatever comes out of your mouth can lead somewhere wonderful.

🌗 It's Yu Pang! 🌗

Yu Pang is drawn to stories that trust the audience to keep up. Inspired by the fractured storytelling of Reservoir Dogs, he loves the idea that seemingly scattered pieces can ultimately click into place. Onstage, he’s especially interested in grief, finding unexpected freedom in handing life’s heavier emotions to a character and letting them carry the weight for a while. His former work as an assistant director — juggling departments, personalities, problems, and constant change — turned out to be perfect improv training, sharpening his ability to read a room and adapt fast. A natural dramatist, Yu Pang gravitates toward serious territory, but these days he’s deliberately chasing more comedy. For him, the goal is to keep the scene from being one flat note, and to change the notes often enough to keep the story alive.

✨🐾 Meet Ting! ✨🐾

Ting has been improvising for around three years, ever since discovering the art form at university — and she’s been chasing honest, heartfelt stories ever since. She performs with Lost & Found Improv and has also appeared as a guest with FIG Formosa Improv Group 福爾摩沙即興組合. Her training has taken her across the globe, from Taiwan (with FIG and John Maloney) to the United States, Barcelona, and workshops at Vietnam Improv Festival - Liên hoan Kịch ứng tác and the Manila Improv Festival. While she loves the spontaneity and joy of improv, Ting is especially drawn to its emotional power. Her favorite recent memory came after a show in which she improvised the story of a young painter whose dream of exhibiting her work finally came true. The story resonated so deeply that an audience member was moved to tears — a beautiful reminder that even stories invented on the spot can leave a lasting mark on the heart.
