Digital art was a major highlight of Taipei Dangdai in 2025.
At the entrance to the fair, the special exhibition "Pulling the Plug" brought together works on LED panels by Zhang Xu Zhan, Su Hui-Yu, and Shu Lea Cheang. Co-hosted with the Ministry of Culture, this project put work by some of the leading names of contemporary art from Taiwan in the lens of visitors and journalists alike.
Working with Cultural Partner Hong Foundation and with the support of the Taipei City Government Department of Cultural Affairs, the special exhibition "Taipei Node" screened digital videos by artist Li Yi-Fan, who will represent Taiwan through a collateral exhibition at the Venice Biennale in 2026.
Marina Abramović Element—the groundbreaking project by the godmother of performance art—held its first preview in Asia at Taipei Dangdai. Comprising 4 stages and over 3000 unique digital artworks, the project reimagines the genre of performance art and artistic presence in the digital age. The first part of the collection—ART—is now half sold out, one month prior to the official release date. Explore the project and join the allowlist by visiting [mae.taex.com](http://mae.taex.com/)
Shavonne Wong's digital AI companion Eva occupied a special exhibition lounge space within Taipei Dangdai. Visitors of all ages were invited to sit down and chat with her avatar using their own voices, leading into deep and sometimes challenging conversations.
Off-site, Taipei Dangdai partnered with Taipei Lumitree to present a special public screening program, bringing snippets of work by Item Idem, Cheng Ran, Su Hui-Yu, Shavonne Wong, and MAOTIK to the heart of downtown Taipei.
Participants in all of these projects mingled and shared their work with one another at the Fair's inaugural Digital Art Reception, laying the foundation for further collaborations in the future.
