The Baroque Dance Project was founded by harpsichordist and pianist Alice Sheu and baroque dancer Julie Iwasa with the mission of bringing out the expressiveness and understanding of the element of dance in baroque music through on-stage collaboration. e music sound like back in the high baroque? Such was the start of my journey. I met Julie Iwasa at the Amherst Early Music Festival in 2015, and I thought about asking her as to whether or not she could create a historically accurate choreography to Bach's keyboard suites. The answer is YES! Together we selected music for out first collaboration, and the result is truly rewarding and enlightening. After we started our collaboration, I also decided to switch over to the harpsichord for Bach's keyboard suites. I found the instrument most capable of matching her swift, light, elegant, and expressive gestures and steps. I hope you join us on this exciting journey.
