In early July, at the height of summer, we traveled to Hualien, located on the eastern coast of Taiwan, a place often known as the home of stone.

We came in search of materials for a new series of vases and vinyl stands, visiting stone yards and workshops along the way. Rows of marble, jade, and raw stones were quietly stacked throughout the spaces, each block carrying its own color, texture, and weight. Walking through them felt a little like being a treasure hunter.

What fascinated us most during this journey was how different stone is from metal. No two surfaces are ever the same. Its density shifts, and veins appear unexpectedly. A single block can be both strong and fragile at the same time. This complexity is what makes stone unique, a material where resilience and vulnerability can coexist, creating a sense of contradiction that feels completely natural.
Much of the process cannot be measured or predicted in advance, but rather understood through observation, experience, and a deeper connection with the material itself. For us, this will become a new experiment and a different way of making.

At the end of the journey, we did find stones that truly captivated us. This making diary is still being written...
With a completely new perspective, we approach the material like a newborn, learning from the beginning, slowly exploring, discovering, and understanding its possibilities.

As they say, “The material tells you what it wants to be.”

Can you listen to a scent..?

Designed for second space, this custom diffuser explores fragrance as something closer to sound than air.

Shaped like a small acoustic form, the object gently releases scent while emitting a soft, ambient glow, almost like a night light. The piece was developed in response to the store’s concept of a “scent library” — a place where smell is not just encountered, but noticed, held, and returned to.

Rather than simply dispersing aroma, the diffuser invites a slower interaction. Touch becomes the trigger, attention becomes the amplifier. In this moment of contact, scent shifts from background atmosphere to something more directional, more intimate — like a frequency tuned between body and space.

By treating fragrance as rhythm, the work considers how invisible elements move through us, and how environments can be shaped not only by what we see, but by what we sense.

Swipe to take a closer look.
