I planted ten different lily species at the end of the Year1 of my MA program. This is the final one to bloom and it smells like the lilies I used to get in Taiwan. Lemony.

This feels like a full circle moment or a very cleaver thing to join things together today, as I register for Year2 classes.

And there’s a cricket chirping in my son’s room right now. We had a cricket in our bathroom in Taiwan once. He used to chirp only at night. This memory/now moment feels so warm and fuzzy ✨

This is what I did this summer - I stayed in and watched lots of TV series and movies alone. I haven’t watched movies for years as life has been intense enough and Taiwan is amazingly exciting on her own.

It all started with Call Me by Your Name. The final episode did it for me - the added winter, processing grief and dad’s monologue. Then I found Heartstopper and Heated Rivalry, and honest conversations, relational safety, consent all the way, uninterrupted intimacy and happy endings. These series are great original filmmaking examples, especially HR - the last credit shot of HR and the way the sequence of the episodes is built and edited).

The last thing I watched was The Boyfriend reality show season 2 on Netflix. Save your hearts, people, and go watch it. And go, Asia!, of course, and the weather! We are all so different and our families are so different, and that is so special, and important that we get to see and treasure those differences. It’s a privilege.

Special shout outs to neurodivergent representation (although not specifically mentioned) along the obvious q***r representation, although not specifically mentioned.

My probably only criteria for any kind of art (and beyond) is: does it have a heart? The people who made these things are made of hearts (and they can make beautiful speeches about it)

“This is how I feel’. ‘I’m happy.’ ‘Thank you’ ‘I love you.’ ‘I’m rooting for you!’ (The Boyfriend)

Weekend photography workshop during the biggest storm in history (or something like that, it didn’t affect Strenči much though) with Anna Volkova and Vladimirs Svetlovs - the best passionate hosts ever, and a group of funny people. It’s been a while since I’ve laughed so hard. Paldies! ♥️

We coated watercolor paper with light sensitive emulsion and printed a couple of photos.

I’m not a b/w person but I wanted to explore layering the photo with other stuff that is color and glitter. I was looking for places that look like unicorn dwellings and found this place along the banks of stagnant old river. I tested adding watercolor to a discarded print (paldies, ) my favorite medium- and it could work! In a bit. (Or in a long time when this information gets digested and new ideas sprout) - this could be something some day.

Images that made me was the most exciting exercise last semester (paldies, Elina Zunde ).

Flying through the space on this rocky thing called Earth at enormous speed every given moment. Right now. Imagining the deep space objects we’ve never seen.

Christmas. Christmas tree cluster. Monoceros constellation.

Mazu birthday parades. Fireworks. 101 New Year fireworks.

Qilin. All-inclusive temples in Taiwan. Intari temples and kitsune. Collecting art and making art friends (thank you huyu) colors (remembering that black is a color too)

Softness, kindness, acceptance. Fierce, bold reaching. Consent. Joy.

Ribbons. Curiosity. Gold. Doing things (asking questions later or never) And more. More is more.

Look back at your life and remember images that contributed to who you are today from the very beginning. What do you see? (There’s no rules, no write or wrong, you may play as many times as you want. Let me know, I’m curious)

Holding hands forever.

FB reminded me of this moment six years ago - I love for moments like this. Because these moments live inside of you, make you experience abundance and go on forever

Finally. These are the things I created during Workshop and residency centre SERDE artist residency. With lots of help from Ieva Jurka ♥️ sharing porcelain with me. I suddenly embarked on this porcelain project - my on-going unicorn research and work with plant memory. I got to play with historical decals from Riga Porcelain Factory too, so generously shared by Ieva. I love connecting things throug time and picking flowers, including the fierce and poisonous ones. I learned lots!

Anyway, this is my process backwards.

This was such a precious experience, thanks to Serde team and all the friendly residents, taking daily walks and 11:30 am breakfast conversations with christine And evening hedgehog observation 🦔

Endings need Lots to process into the abrupt alone time. Ups and downs and long in-betweens that sometimes last a bit too long.

Lots of love, shiny things and unicorns on 🦄✨
Thank you ♥️
