I started with a swarm of worms and ended up with a livestock economy, a queen, acid-spitting drones, and a whole set of questions about goblinoid society I wasn't expecting to ask this week.

That's world-building for you. You don't always design it. Sometimes you follow something weird until it has rules.
If you want more of the process behind how this stuff actually develops, I write about it in the newsletter.

Have you ever wanted to make something but didn't know where to start?

It happens to me more than people assume. I draw monsters, design creatures, build worlds with their own logic and rules — and people take one look at that and think it just flows. It doesn't. It comes from what you put in, and then knowing what to do when that still isn't enough.

Right now I'm working on a bestiary, a catalog of creatures for a world that doesn't exist yet. And the thing I keep coming back to is constraints. Give a creature an environment. Give the world a set of rules. Suddenly the design has somewhere to go.

I've been away for a while. I'm back now, sharing the whole process, not just the finished work. If that's something you want to follow, stick around.

✨ The Zongzi Bois Sticker Sheet is HERE! ✨

Say hello to my lovable Zongzi Bois in all their drumming, cheering, dumpling-filled glory! 🥁✨

These little bundles of bamboo leaf-wrapped joy turned out perfectly—crisp lines, shimmering colors, and so much personality packed onto one glossy sheet. And the best part? No scissors were harmed in the making of these (looking at you, past sticker-cutting chaos 🙃).

I'll be launching these little boats of joy at the and this weekend!

After that Patreon patrons get first dibs before these cuties march off to my e-shop, so stay tuned for more details soon. Would you stick these Bois on your notebook, laptop, or water bottle? Let me know! 💌

This Christmas, got me hooked on Ru Paul’s Drag Race, which was just in time to watch the first ever Queen from Taiwan win the competition ! So when I got the opportunity to go to a show and meet her, I had to make a gift for her and one of the other contestants I knew would bet there, ! (I didn’t know was going to be there or I would have had to paint some more stickers 😅). The show always great and I feel so lucky to live where at do at a time like this.

Capricorn
The first born of my zodiac series, Capricorn established the themes and elements I would go on to use through the paintings. However, like many firstborn the process of bringing it together wasn’t quite refined.

Pisces
I love the concept of a centaur or a mermaid turned on its head. We say half-fish half-human or half-horse half-person but where are the lines drawn? Which half? What is “half” exactly? In any case, having an identity that is intrinsically dualistic is fascinating as well. The same questions exist!

Ares
As a person that doesn’t really apply astrological advice to my life, or put much stock in it for that matter, I am surprise at how often I’m not surprised after meeting someone to hear that they are an Ares. 😅 Is it the celestial alignments at their birth that make them that way, or a lifetime of others expecting that behavior?

Ta**us
The bull. When we assume identities closely associated with animals, are we simplifying our existence? When I was a child, I thought that so many animals used to have super powers compared to humans. Smell, sight, hearing, speed, and weird reproductive systems that just seem crazy. This of course begs the question, “why are we apparently winning the survival game, or at least losing it the best?” Obviously, our super power is the ability to mope around about the meaning of our existence until it leads us to do something uniquely human like build an empire, go to war, or make art.

Gemini
We all know those people that when they come around, you never know what you’re gonna get. Will it be blue Karen or red Karen? Nice Chad or naughty Chad? Perfectly polite Penelope or irredeemably irate Isolde? If you don’t know any, it’s probably you! Luckily if you’re born at the right time of year you can blame it on being a Gemini.
