版畫的定義是由版轉印在不同的媒材上，現在的創作中常常會利用不同的板材變化出各種可能。如果把「社會」當作版，印製出各種不同的「人」。由各種不同的人，各種不同的排列組合，激盪出各種不同的可能，這些又形成所謂的社會，這樣的循環不是很好玩嗎？

🧑‍🎨 劉書妤 Shu-Yu Liu

今年剛得到臺南新藝獎的書妤跟台南十分有緣，在這個月中我們請了她來與Laure座談，這個月底我們有請了她回來進駐。

書妤的作品橫跨許多媒材，這次的進駐我們希望她回歸到她的最初，在取討論與看看版畫這個媒材的各種可能性。我們期待她的進駐，接下來也會分享她在台南的生活。

This year, Shu-Yu, who recently received the Next Art Tainan Award, seems to share a special connection with Tainan. Earlier this month, we invited her to join Laure for an artist talk, and at the end of this month, we are welcoming her back for a residency.

Shu-Yu’s practice spans across many different media. For this residency, we hope to return to her beginnings—revisiting and exploring the many possibilities of printmaking as a medium.
We’re looking forward to Shu-Yu’s coming, we will sharing and updates her life in Tainan as well.

認識一個城市，從它的路開始。
我住的八里，沿著河的腹地狹小，基本上只有一條路從頭通到尾。從大學開始認識台北市的路，從北到南、東至西，棋盤格的路名漸漸嫻熟於心。台南不是一個陌生的城市，但去了幾次，總是記不得路。聽說以前曾有陸地是內海、道路是運河，腳踏著的土地，並不是那麼堅實永恆。

希望這次進駐，我能夠記得這些路，發現它們過去的痕跡。

To know a city, begin with its roads.

I live in Bali (New Taipei City) , where the land stretches narrowly along the riverbank, and essentially there is only one road running from beginning to end. Since university, I’ve come to know the streets of Taipei well — from north to south, east to west, the grid-like road names gradually became familiar to me.

Tainan is not an unfamiliar city, yet no matter how many times I’ve visited, I can never quite remember its streets. I’ve heard that parts of the land were once inland sea, and many of the roads used to be canals. The ground beneath our feet is perhaps not as solid or eternal as it seems.

Through this residency, I hope to remember these roads, and to discover traces of their past.

本次座談將由 IER 2026 進駐藝術家 黃佩麗，與 Texture 的 吳佩璇共同對談，分享此次德國交流計畫、駐村經驗、創作背景，以及版畫作為跨文化媒介的可能性。

今天是Laure 在工作室Check-out日子 ，很快速地就過了三個月。在這三個月的時間，不知為何感覺像是在跑三鐵。先是讓完全沒有做過版畫的Laure了解不同的版種，各是做了版種的實驗，最後定下了凹版的選項。

三個月裡面我們做了台南新總圖的展覽和座談、台北藝術大學的座談、台南美術館的工作坊，在結束展覽前她還去了 樂土 ＠lotosinside 實驗新的材料。又在進駐結束前與助理沛宸共創了一本為了台灣圖書館之母王秋華的藝術書。與Laure的合作過程中，我最佩服的是她對創作的熱誠，創作其實也是一場沒有盡頭的馬拉松，你永遠不知道終點在哪，在過程中你會覺得氣餒因為不確定自己花的時間與力氣有沒有結果。但Laure把這一切變得很像遊戲，不管有沒有結果她在中間玩得很開心。看著創作的過程，感受這樣的能量，就像充電一樣讓我覺得十分滿足。

謝謝Laure 帶來的一切，希望她也能帶著台南的一切繼續前進，當下次再相會的時候，希望我們都有更多的新想法可以分享。

Today marks Laure’s check-out day from the studio. Somehow, these three months passed by incredibly fast. At the same time, it also felt a bit like running a triathlon.

When Laure first arrived, she had no prior experience with printmaking. We began by introducing her to different printmaking techniques, experimenting across various processes together, before eventually settling on intaglio as the main direction for her work.

Over the course of these three months, we organized an exhibition and two public talks at the Tainan Public Library （New Main Library), an artist talk at Taipei National University of the Arts, and a workshop at the Tainan Art Museum. Before the exhibition concluded, she also visited to experiment with new materials, in addition to creating an artist book with our assistant,

What I admire most throughout this collaboration is Laure’s passion to create. Creative practice itself is an endless marathon — you never really know where the finish line is, and along the way, it’s easy to feel discouraged, wondering whether all the time and energy invested will lead anywhere. But Laure somehow turns the whole process into a game. Regardless of the outcome, she genuinely enjoys being inside the process itself.

Watching that process unfold, and experiencing that kind of energy, felt almost like recharging a battery. It left me feeling deeply fulfilled.

Thank you, Laure, for everything you brought with you during these months. We hope she will continue forward carrying a part of Tainan with her as well. And when we meet again next time, we hope to have even more new ideas to share with each other.

//A fulfilling day.//

4 月 25 日，我們為目前正在進駐的藝術家 Laure Catugier 舉辦了一場藝術家座談。當天除了 Laure 之外，也邀請到藝術家劉書妤，以及臺南市美術館館長龔卓軍一同參與對談。書妤與 Laure 的創作同樣關注建築，但各自從不同的視角切入；在龔館長的引導與串聯之下，兩者之間產生了更深層的對話與延伸。

那天據說下起了滂沱大雨。提早進場準備的我們，其實並不清楚雨勢有多大——因為現場早已坐滿觀眾。這是工作室首次迎來如此多人的參與。作為經營者，能讓我們所重視的藝術家與更多觀眾產生交流，是一件非常令人開心的事情。也特別感謝臺南市立圖書館新總館提供如此完善的空間，使這場活動得以順利實現。

今年，就在四月，剛好是工作室創立第12年。用這樣的活動作為週年慶的慶生，對我而言，是一種踏實而完整的回應。

On April 25, we hosted an artist talk for our current resident artist, Laure Catugier. In addition to Laure, we were honored to invite artist Shu-Yu Liu and Jow-Jiun Gong, Director of the Tainan Art Museum, to join the conversation. While both Shu-Yu and Laure engage with architecture in their practices, they approach it from distinct perspectives. Through Director Gong’s facilitation, their works were brought into a deeper and more layered dialogue.

We didn’t find out until later that it was raining heavily that day, as we had arrived early to prepare, and the venue was already filled with people pretty early on. This marked the first time the studio welcomed such a large audience. As organizers, it is truly rewarding to see artists we value engage with a wider public. We are also sincerely grateful to the Tainan Public Library New Main Library for providing such an excellent space, making this event possible.

This April also marks the 12th anniversary of the studio. To celebrate this milestone through such an event feels, to me, both grounded and complete.

法國藝術家 Laure Catugier 此次受邀於 Texture版畫工作室進行駐村創作，其創作長期透過 攝影、拼貼與藝術家書（Artist Book） 探索城市與建成環境；劉書妤 則透過 版畫與空間形式，探索身體如何感知並重新理解建築與空間結構。透過兩位藝術家的作品案例，本次對談將討論 建築語言如何轉化為版畫與書籍形式，以及印刷媒介如何成為理解城市與空間的一種方法。

龔卓軍將從 藝術史與策展觀點 串聯兩位藝術家的創作脈絡，帶領觀眾思考 建築、圖像與印刷媒介在當代藝術中的關係與可能性。

This artist talk is organized by Texture Printmaking Studio, bringing together the invited resident artist Laure Catugier and 2026 Next Art Tainan Award recipient Shu-Yu Liu for a conversation, with Jow-Jiun Gong, Director of Tainan Art Museum, serving as the respondent and discussant. The talk will focus on the intersection of printmaking, artist books, and architectural space, exploring how artists from different cultural backgrounds respond to the city and the built environment through images and print-based media.

Drawing from perspectives in art history and curatorial practice, Jow-Jiun Gong will connect the artistic approaches of both artists and guide the discussion toward broader reflections on the relationships between architecture, visual imagery, and print media in contemporary art.

French artist Laure Catugier, currently in residence at Texture Printmaking Studio, has long explored urban and built environments through photography, collage, and artist books. Through examples from their works, the conversation will discuss how architectural language can be translated into printmaking and book forms, and how print-based media can become a way of understanding urban space.
