Art work Introduction “Kawaii Boba Butterflies”
Taiwan used to be called the "Kingdom of Butterflies" in the 1960s. We are exploring the relationship between Taiwan and Governor’s Island through butterflies. Historically, Taiwan and Governor's Island were occupied by the Dutch East India Company and the Dutch West India Company respectively in 1624. During the residency we will use cultural mixing and collage methods to complete an experimental video and a performance that interacts with the public.
We combined these two histories. In the video, we play two butterflies, as if we were leaving the island, boarding a ship of the Dutch East and West India Company, and unexpectedly arriving at Governor's Island on a fantastic journey.
