The starting point was 3 text sheets on Architectural Structure and Details. When doing the examine, the examiners need to draw down the detail of the structure precisely. It was a one-year class with 4 examines through out the year. Every time the feed back on my text sheet was Poor Drawing. Why I said there were only 3 text sheets rather then 4 instead? Because the last time, everybody h
ad already gone on summer vacation. No one got the final feedback so I never know if I got the fourth 'Poor Drawing.'
Few years later, a friend of mine invited me to participate the 'Sketch Space Workshop' hosted by Francis D.K. Ching who was the author of 'Design Drawing', the bible of spatial drawing. Since then, I gradually realized the method of sketch and started to sketch. I even had a exactly the same fountain pen as Francis Ching has because I though maybe I can draw as good as he does some day if we use the same pen. In 2015, I went to La Biennale di Venezia d'arte. I stood in a room and tried to capture the scene I had in front of me but I couldn't. I took a long to to adjust my location and the angle of my camera but it didn't work. Then, I realized that even the sketch was sh*tty as it should be like a poor drawing but I can't remove the scene I would like to capture in my head anymore. Then it became a hobbit that I sketch wherever I travel. So here they are. And the adventure is still going on.
2002年左右，在念建築系的時候，有一門建築細部結構與構造的課，為期兩學期，整整一年的課。那門課程安排的非常緊實，常常得到校外參訪正在興建的大型工程，學習建築構造工法與細部。期中、期末考試的內容都是要詳盡手繪建築局部細部這樣的題目。永遠記得每次考卷一發下來，分數不低，但是在試卷右上角分數的旁邊，總會有一排小字「poor drawing」。就這樣我收集了三個poor drawings，並且相信有第四個，因為最後一次期末考完就放暑假了，試卷根本沒有發下來。
一直到2006年左右，世界上的草寫之神Francis D.K. Ching來台辦工作坊，立馬報名參加。為期一週的工作坊讓我學到了在建築系沒有學到但超級重要的空間草寫。看到Francis Ching手上的透明lamy 鋼筆也讓我好生喜歡，最後也得到了一隻。總覺得用著跟大師一樣的筆畫圖，或許有一天可以畫得跟大師一樣好棒棒。然後就開始斷斷續續、有一搭沒一搭地練習著。
直到2015年11月，有一天獨自到威尼斯旅行參觀威尼斯美術雙年展。我看著這些那些美的、奇的、怪的；跟空間無關的有關的作品們，很多時候我手中的照相機怎麼也拍不到我想要的那個畫面，然後我拿起紙筆開始畫了起來，畫得很差，如同poor drawing評語一般，但是我對我眼前的畫面卻是深深地牢記了。然後我想，從現在開始吧。那些在外面遊覽的日子，除了相機之外，就用我手上的lamy 透明鋼筆跟那些回收的A5廢紙記載吧。
一直到現在，那些遊覽的記敘旅程，進行中。
