Keelung Nights - Nordic Lights An international exhibition/ residency program between Nordic countries and Asia.

The project inaugurates in Keelung and will continue to discuss the link between 2 continents through the art practice related to community, harbor, water and ocean. 關注於北歐與亞洲之間的文化交流及藝術進駐計畫，發起於基隆，並持續針對兩地的藝術創作、關於水、海洋和港口城市的連結與對話。

The project was initialed at a meeting in a summer day in Paris in 2016. Taiwanese curator Erica Yu-Wen Huang and Finnish artist and curator Nina-Maria Oförsagd were both d

oing residency at La Cité internationale des arts in Paris. They were coming from 2 extremely
different climate zones, however, the water and ocean linked them together. Both of them also shared similar interest on art takes intervention at non traditional exhibition site and
curatorial practice. They visited each other’s countries on October 2016 and April 2017, and decided to create this project focused on the culture exchange between Nordic countries and Asia. Keelung city in Northern Taiwan would be a base of the first international exchange. Huang and Oförsagd has invited artists from Nordic countries and Asia to Keelung for a month residency to work on site and to explore the surrounding, meet local people and find a language to communicate; with each other, the surrounding and the chosen exhibition space. Also, to talk over possible cultural scape and developing of art scene in
Keelung as an international harbour city. The exhibition and residency space, the former Tai-Pin elementary school, surrounded by local community high up on a hill, looking down at the city center, harbour area and the sea, has its own interesting history with traces left behind for the arts to have the opportunity to
join in a dialogue with the room and the surrounding. The exhibition provides audience development, personal artist tours, workshops, concert, live performance art, and site specific sculptures. Together with international artists, Huang and Oförsagd will continue develop the exhibition and residency program once a year with different themes, but will hold on to the idea of ecological awareness, the sea that connects us, and building artwork on site. We will build a platform where Artist and Curators from both Asia and Nordic countries can come together with joint projects, and where they can communicate in both our continents.

「基隆夜．北極光」有了下集！
經歷兩年的努力，我們很榮幸獲得國家文化藝術基金會、Nordisk Kulturfond、Svenska Kulturfonden、Arts Promotion Center Finland、Konstsamfundet的支持下促成了：「來至海洋」，2019年8月，由竹圍工作室和Oro Residency Programme主辦，五位亞洲藝術家(台灣、菲律賓)和五位北歐藝術家在芬蘭群島國家公園的ORO島進駐一個月，並在8月31日至9月30日在Dalsbruk港邊進行展覽，開幕時間為8月31日下午三點，包括展覽、放映和演出，期待你也在！

Finally!! Keelung Nights - Nordic Lights continues in Finland. With the support of National Culture and Arts Foundation (Taiwan), Nordisk Kulturfond, Svenska Kulturfonden, Arts Promotion Center Finland and Konstsamfundet, we can realize "Sea Views" in 2019 summer. Organized by Bamboo Curtain Studio and Örö Residency Programme, curated by Erica Huang and Nina-Maria Oförsagd, we bring 5 artists from Asia (Taiwan and Philippine) and 5 artists from Nordic (Iceland, Finland, Sweden, Denmark/Columbia, Åland) to spend a month on Örö Island. In the end of residency, we will host an exhibition in Dalsbruk, from 31 August until 30 September. The opening is from 3pm, including exhibition, screening and performances. please come join us!

媒材Medium：廣興紙、水性印墨 Guangxing paper, water-based printing ink

Kuen-Lin Tsai’s creation doesn’t limit to material and never speak out in a direct way, but serve as media encouraging audience to feel the works and to come up with new perceptive experience through their physical awareness.

“Keelung is a northern harbor city of Taiwan, only 40 minutes away from Taipei. And it has rich cultural remains from Spain, the Netherlands, France, Britain, Japan and China. These regimes once set up strongholds or fortress here for trade or national sovereignty, and the physical remains and virtual culture and traditions still having influence on the local Keelung people.
During the residency, I will collect the history, geography, local industry, religious materials, then try to find out the new links of Keelung, and use the woodcut print to reflect on the relationship between people and landscape.”

蔡坤霖的創作不局限於媒材也從未直接表述概念，而是透過藝術作為媒介鼓勵觀眾感受作品，並且產生對於物理感知的新的觀點和體驗。

「基隆，作為一個台灣頭的海港城市，距離臺北只有僅僅40分鐘的距離，有著西班牙、荷蘭、法國、英國、日本與中國等豐富的文化遺跡。這些國家或是因為貿易，也或是因為主權的擴張與宣稱而意欲在此建立據點，對於遺留下來的建設與文化或是生活習慣的遺跡，也必然的影響著現在的居民。於是我將透過在基隆的駐地計畫收集相關的歷史、地理、地方產業、宗教信仰與其他資料，試圖找出與基隆的新的鏈結，然後用版畫來呈現人們與此地景的關係。」

Could we have more imagination to life? to local community? to ocean which surrounded us? Thanks so much for Yen Wu brought those student from Anle junior high school to “Keelung Nights - Nordic Lights”. The students were so excited, having lots to say, to express their feeling with art, inspiration through artworks. That was the best compliment and feed back to this project.

Evelina Kollberg's art expresses an even weight between pleasure and discomfort. Kollberg works with an art form that takes time. The work is psychological, raw, and seductive and invites to participate.

伊芙琳娜．庫爾巴禮的藝術表達愉悅和不舒適的平衡。她以一種「需要時間」的藝術形式在工作，這項作品是心理上的、原始的、誘人的，並邀請觀眾參與其中。

莫里茨．提斯特樂爾是一個表演詩人，他的創作將他的身體視為在社會狀態中的詩。

Mauritz Tistelö is a performance poet that works with his body as poems in social situations.
“THE INVISIBLE LIBRARY, everyone is welcome here to borrow a secret, an action or a movement. We take them with us out in the town, to a special place, to situations in our lives and we change them to a different secret, action or movement. Then we bring them back for someone else to borrow. For a little time on this planet we borrow each other’s lives.”

Wei Hsinyen is a Taiwanese artist working in photography, video and performance. Her work explores intimacy through various social, sensory and cultural implications.

今天我們再度在社區的奇幻旅程，藝術家想在頂樓做行為演出，但是遲遲碰不到屋主，後來終於今天去敲門的時候得到正面回覆！感謝阿嬤❤️❤️ Thank you A-MA (meaning in Taiwanese: grandmother) We had lovely moment in Rain. Swedish artist Mauritz wants to do performance on one of rooftop in the neighborhood, so we were trying to find out who is the owner. We knocked the doors and came out a lady, Ms. Hsieh with lovely baby(super cute), we told her our proposal and she said she need to ask A-MA. And promised to give me a call afterwards. While we are sitting at residency for plan b, suddenly I receive a phone call from Ms. Hsieh, she told us A-MA is willing to lent the rooftop, and then we re visit. A-MA gave us a wonderful tour and even treated us Taiwanese sweet. I feel blessed, without any of them, we can not achieve anything.
