好久不見！距離結束這個廣播節目已經好一段時間了。這段時間裡，全世界（包括台灣）發生了很多變動。我想大家多少都有一樣的感受，所以想跟大家分享一下我這個禮拜北上台北的一些心得。
這趟北上，主要是為了參加一位好朋友參與的會談，也順道和已經合作一段時間的出版社進行交流。行程名義上看起來是一場跨界交流活動，但一整天下來我才發現，其實這是一群不分國界、年齡、性別，愛台灣、愛民主的人，彼此啟發的交流聚會。
「民主」這兩個字，每個人都可以用自己的方式，去維持這份得來不易的自由。有些人選擇浮出台面，做一些很偉大的事情；但並不是每個人都必須轟轟烈烈。每個人都有權利、也有能力，用自己的方式持續參與，讓世界知道台灣在這裡。
有時候，走出舒適圈，是為了提醒自己，其實有很多人和你一樣，默默地、認真地，守護著這片土地。
It’s been a while since I wrapped up the radio show, and a lot has been happening, both personally and all around the world. In times like these, it’s easy to feel discouraged. I just wanted to share a few thoughts, and to remind you that you’re not alone.
I was in Taipei earlier this week. What began as a simple opportunity to network at a seminar and finally meet the publishing team I’ve been working with for the past two years became something far more meaningful.
In this chaotic political climate, it’s easy to feel helpless. Sometimes it feels easier to look away from the noise and discomfort; but quiet indifference was never an option for me.
Through conversations with inspiring seminar speakers and the publisher team/partners, I was reminded that democracy isn’t sustained by grand gestures alone. It survives because people - each in their own intentional way - continue to show up and take part. Through different languages/mother tongues, through dialogue, through simply making sure the world knows that Taiwan is here.
The people I had the privilege to meet (across different fields and nationalities) are all deeply committed to preserving what makes Taiwan so unique - its openness, its freedom, and its willingness to engage with the world. By sharing knowledge, listening across cultures, and learning from one another, every single person protects freedom in his or her own way. No weapons. No ammunition. Just conviction and care.
Sometimes, stepping outside your comfort zone reminds you that there are others like you. People who are quietly, steadily doing their part to make this beautiful country even better.
