TAROKO GORGE:

This geological phenomenon, caused by a collision between the Philippine Oceanic Plate and the Eurasian Continental Plate 4 million years ago is a miraculous sight to behold. Thick layers of marble limestone rock rise up to 3000m above sea level and the beautifully blue Liwu River running through the mountains forms a gorge. Even today, the walls of the gorge are rising at the rate of about 0.5cm per year and the river basin has become deeper and deeper.
