『埔』本為原野之意，臺灣早期丘陵平原、河岸沙洲等中坦面或緩斜面未開墾可耕地稱之為「埔」。

工作室坐落於嘉南平原上的中埔地區，地形多元物產豐富，位處山區與平原的交界丘陵地，早期為原住民與漢人的物產集散經濟中心，現今盛產稻米、甘蔗、柑橘、龍眼、檳榔等農經作物。

十多年來窯主一直在北部發展創作，然而家鄉裡廢棄農作物的灰燼和沖積田園的土石成為窯主的創作原料，而鄉村樸實的生活與憨直熱情的文化則成為創作靈感來源，於是窯主在2011年回到嘉義縣中埔鄉，以腳下的這塊土地名稱為意，成立『埔窯』工作室。
