In the context of a Saraswati Puja image, the presence of a water-fowl and geese usually carries symbolic meanings linked to Hindu mythology and iconography.
Here’s a detailed explanation:

1. HAMSA (Swan/Goose/Waterfowl) – Vehicle of Saraswati

* Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, music, arts, and learning, is often depicted with a hamsa, which can be translated as a swan, goose, or sometimes a duck-like waterfowl.
* The hamsa is symbolic of discernment and wisdom. In Hindu philosophy, it is said to have the ability to separate milk from water, which metaphorically means distinguishing truth from falsehood or knowledge from ignorance.

2. Symbolism of the Geese

* The geese and waterfowl that represent grace and fluidity, aligning with Saraswati’s association with the flow of knowledge and music.
* In some regional depictions, geese symbolize spiritual travel and learning, since they migrate, representing the journey of the soul towards enlightenment.

3. Overall Message in the Image

* The geese in the image reinforce Saraswati’s role as the guide for learning, wisdom, and creative expression**.
* It also suggest purity, discernment, and the continuous movement of knowledge, much like water that nourishes life and sustains growth.
