It features an elite cast of Calypsonians. Back to Basics is a calypso tent located at Auzonville road Tunapuna at Roslyn Hall. It features a cast of some of the country’s best Calypsonians and rising stars of Calypso. Some of the lineups include Funny, Trinidad Rio, Luta, Cardinal, Exposer, Rex East, Mba and others. It is privately owned by Winston Peters and privately financed with sponsorship f

rom private and corporate entities. The difference with is that it offers true Kaiso devoid of dominating political and racial lyrics. Instead, it provides all the elements of true kaiso with humour, social issues and wit, as told by the orators of Kaiso.

Calypso lovers are you ready? Back to Basics Calypso Tent presents Nostalgia 2022.

Headed by Extempo Legend Winston “Gypsy” Peters with guest appearance by Reigning Calypso Monarch Terri Lyons, not to mention SuperBlue and The Queen of Chutney Drupatee.

Multiple Junior Calypso Monarch Aaron Duncan will also be performing. Back to Basics also features the versatile, David Bereaux, Pirate, XPOSER, BodyGuard, Rex East and Hindu Prince.

🇹🇹 2020 NATIONAL CALYPSO MONARCH FINALS RESULTS

T&T National Calypso Monarch Finals took place at the Queen's Park Savannah on Thursday 20th February 2020.

Terri Lyons deservedly became the new Calypso Monarch and there was a historic clean sweep of the top 3 places in the National Calypso Monarch Finals by female calypsonians.
