Stories bring us closer. And this August, East Yard is making space for many of them.

In the latest edition of the East Yard Enterprises' AMPLIFY Connect: For Good. newsletter, Founder and Cultural Director we're reflecting on the power of storytelling to build community — and on an exciting month ahead at East Yard.

📚 On Saturday, 22 August, Bocas Lit Fest brings **Bocas Arima** to East Yard for a full day of literature, spoken word, workshops, storytelling, books and conversation.

📸 The day will also mark the launch of **Arima is Love**, a new photography series from Kevon Gareth Foderingham documenting the creatives, changemakers and entrepreneurs shaping the Borough and what they love most about Arima.

🌴 East Yard also celebrates a new chapter for *AMPLIFY Connect, with the amnouncement of grant support from the Caribbean Culture Fund for the **AMPLIFY Connect: Creative Social Enterprise Exchange**, welcoming literary practitioners from Barbados and Jamaica to Arima for creative residencies rooted in cultural exchange, community and enterprise.

It’s a big month in de Yard — connected by one simple idea: great community is built one conversation, one collaboration and one story at a time.

Read the August newsletter and discover what’s happening in de Yard. 💛

📢*Announcement* 📢

We're pleased to announce that East Yard Enterprises has been selected as a grantee by Caribbean Culture Fund from their recent Call 5, focused on Residencies and Fellowships.

The grant will support our AMPLIFY Connect: Creative Social Enterprise Exchange - a short-term literary residency hosted by East Yard Enterprises in Arima, Trinidad and Tobago. The programme will invite two spoken word artists and literary practitioners from Barbados and Jamaica for two separate immersive creative and community engagement residencies focused on developing new literary works that reflect the shared Caribbean experience.

The residency is designed to extend the philosophy of East Yard’s AMPLIFY Connect Creative Social Enterprise Fellowship, which supports creatives in developing socially impactful ventures that merge artistic expression with sustainable business practices.

Through this exchange, the selected artists will be housed and supported at the East Yard, Arima’s Creative and Cultural Campus while developing new poetry, prose, or hybrid literary works that explore Caribbean identity, shared social challenges, and possible community-based solutions. The fellowship will also encourage artists to translate their creative output into future revenue generating creative social enterprise products, such as publications, performances, digital storytelling formats, or educational content.

Stay tuned, for the exciting rollout in the upcoming weeks.

Thanks again to the Caribbean Culture Fund for the support on this initiative.
