Artist Statement:
Hello, my name is Luke Lashley and I am a multi-media artist from Arima, Trinidad and Tobago. My art is photography, painting, drawing, graphic design, ceramic design and fabric design just to name a few. For over ten years I have immersed myself in the process and dialogue of art making. It defines me. It ignites me. I want to teach, mentor and bring my art to the world to empower others. When I teach textile and quilting, the bold shapes and textures come alive, they talk to me and I am inspired. Then I impart. Then I listen again. My hand painted Mono print batik evokes the spirit of the Caribbean with its bold color and carefree strokes. That epitomizes my life: bold, carefree, focused, limitless; my tools for success.
