I've curated this online space because it's what I've been looking for - a place to question, understand and rethink the present, past and future of life in the Caribbean. You will find loads of information about education, young people and learning because I'm deeply concerned about the development of young people from a theoretical and practical perspective.

However, you will also find information about History, Icons, Inventions, Plants, Animals and other fascinating things about life and living in the Caribbean. Today, this entire space is run by me. Teachers have an impossible job, but...

With some support, it can get much easier.

I've started a daily routine in a Form 1 class called Morning Meds, and it's making a shift in their attitudes.

It happens during roll call, and it takes very little effort to start.

Exams don't test intelligence. They test:

How well you perform under pressure
How well you can recall the work
How well you meet their standards

High grades mean you played their game well

Low grades means you didn't

But we walk away from school believing we either rel smart or dunce because of our grades.

I had a powerful conversation with a parent recently.

They were stressed because even though their child knew the work, the exam results just didn’t reflect it.

They tried extra lessons.
They talked it through.
Nothing changed.

It wasn’t a lack of intelligence, focus or effort.
It was the child's ability to self-direct under pressure.

That’s the work I do.
I help students learn how to regulate themselves so they can think clearly, focus, and respond when it matters most.

In January, I’m running 3 workshops with very small groups (max 5 students) for students who struggle with exam anxiety, focus, or motivation.

P.S. If adults struggle to perform under pressure, it makes sense that children do too. The good news? Once students learn how to work with pressure, they’re far more able to do their best.

The worst thing you can do right now is punish them.
