On 29th July 2026 Trivia Knights posted about Nikoli Blackman’s heroics in winning 3 Gold medals for Trinidad & Tobago at the 2026 Central American & Caribbean (CAC) Games. These were in the 50m freestyle,100m freestyle & 4 x 100m relay events. You can view that post at the following link:

On 1st August, Blackman would go on to add a bronze medal to that tally in the Men’s 200m Freestyle. The gold medalist in that event was Guyana’s Raekwon Noel, with Mexico’s Jorge Iga winning the silver. Blackman was instrumental in Trinbago finishing the CAC Games swimming a magnificent third in the overall medal standings, bettered only by Mexico 1st and Puerto Rico 2nd. However, the whole team was outstanding and seasoned pro Dylan Carter plus youngsters Liam Carrington and Zerek Wilson were all solid pillars in this fine national display. Their collective efforts in the 4 x 100m relay was both a brilliant new National Record of 3:16.91 as well as impressively a new CAC Games record beating the old mark of 3:17.95 previously held by Mexico. The quartet’s individual efforts should also fill the nation with much pride.
Dylan Carter was in typical medal winning form; on 30th July he won a bronze medal in the Men’s 100m Butterfly in a time of 52.99. Carter had a blistering start and led at the 50m mark with a split of 23.99, that pace was difficult to sustain for Trinbago’s iconic veteran swimmer and in the second half of the race his split was 29.00. The Venezuelan pair of Manuel Diaz and Jorge Ortaiza, would eventually take the gold and silver medals respectively. Their times were 52.45 and 52.91.
Then on the 1st August, Carter would top the podium with an individual gold medal in the Men’s 50m butterfly. His time was 23.43. Carter is still the Games Record Holder in this event with the time of 23.32 he set in El Salvador in 2023. Columbia’s Emiliano Calle, took the silver medal with a time of 23.48. Jorge Ortaiza from Venezuela, earned himself another bronze medal in a time of 23.56.

Trini youngster Zerek Wilson who swam the third leg in the gold medal winning 4 x 100m relay squad also competed in the final of the Men’s 50m butterfly and finished 7th in that event in a time of 24.39. Wilson was also 10th in the Men’s 100m butterfly in a time of 55.03.
Liam Carrington, the quartet’s youngest member, swam the first leg of the 4 X 100m freestyle relay team. Carrington also won an individual silver medal on 30th July in the Men’s 50m Backstroke; this in a time of 25:10. Carrington was only beaten by record breaking Mexican, Marcus Reyes. Reyes time in the final was 24.83, however earlier that day in the heats Reyes set a new Games record of 24.63. Bermuda’s Jack Cameron Harvey came third.

Carrington also competed in the Men’s 100m Backstroke where he fell just short of the podium, finishing in 4th place; this was on 31st July. The following day, Carrington competed in the 200m Backstroke where he finished seventh in a time of 2:05.57.
