A 30-year-old San Fernando labourer was arrested on Saturday after allegedly using obscene language in public and injuring two police officers during a violent confrontation in Point Fortin.
According to police, officers on traffic duty along Point Fortin Main Road around 10:30 a.m. observed the man loudly using obscene language and approached him, informing him of the offence and instructing him to stop.
Police said the man refused to comply, and when officers attempted to arrest him, he resisted and a struggle broke out.
During the altercation, the suspect allegedly pulled officers to the ground, resulting in injuries to one officer while the suspect also sustained facial injuries.
As nearby officers moved in to assist, police said the man continued resisting and allegedly kicked another officer in the stomach while being placed into a police vehicle.
