Many of you may not know the artist behind Jordan Studios personally. I want to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Bryan Jordan, a Tobago-based practitioner in the visual arts for just about my whole life!
The studio space today was the Shaw Park Cultural Complex, for the Bishop’s High School 2024 Graduation.

I took on my first ever challenge of completing a painting live and in person at an event, and the experience has been absolutely exhilarating. It was definitely in keeping well with the theme “Vernissage”. I want to take this time to publicly thank my alma mater, especially the stakeholders behind the ceremony for trusting me to deliver. The painting, titled “Melissa” was received by the feature speaker and Administrator in the Office of the Chief Secretary, Mrs. Melissa James-Guy with overwhelming emotion! I felt moved, knowing my creativity can bring joy and smiles on behalf of the institution, and the graduating year.

I am excited about getting down to creating more, and pushing the boundaries of my comfort zone! Thank you all for your continued encouragement! God bless you all.

A breeze of fresh air! That’s what this experience felt like, having been selected to judge the art and design component of the DERT’s Winding Up Competition. Students were challenged to locate a potential site for a wind farm in Tobago, supporting with it a comprehensive rationale and a visual communication of the idea by a model of the wind farm itself! It was thrilling to see the hard work each school put in, and I want to congratulate all the winners and participants. We indeed have young critical thinkers, endowed with developing visual arts skills suitable for the communication of their ideas. Just a day before Global Wind Day, the prize giving ceremony was held.

I am happy that I am able to give back to Tobago, the amalgamation of my work over the years in the visual arts, with my most recent study pursuits in Geography and Environmental and Natural Resources Management. As an artist, and a nascent geographer, I’m thrilled for what the future holds 🌎
