Cannabis Cultivation and Dangerous Drugs Seized in Central and NCD
A total of forty-eight cannabis plants, co***ne and ecstasy were seized during separate anti-crime operations conducted in the Central and North Central Divisions yesterday.
On Thursday 18th June, 2026 between 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., officers conducted a roadblock operation in the Freeport Police District after receiving information that ma*****na was being cultivated on a property at McLeod Trace, Carapichaima.
During the exercise, officers discovered and seized forty-eight cannabis plants. A 47-year-old man of Carapichaima was arrested in connection with the find and has since been charged. He is expected to appear before the court on Monday.
The operation was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Bhagwandeen, Supt. Frank, ASP Harrypersad, Insp. Manolal, Ag. Sgt. Umaid, PC Abbay and PC Khan.
In a separate Operation Steady Guard conducted between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., officers executed search warrants at commercial premises along the Eastern Main Road, El Dorado.
Officers recovered 17.4 grams of co***ne and 4.0 grams of ecstasy during a search of another establishment. Investigations into the seizure are continuing.
The operation was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Gift and Supt. Jaikarran, coordinated by ASP Bharath, ASP Pierre and Ag. Sgt. Laurent, and supervised by W/Ag. Cpl. Cordner together with officers of the North Central Division Task Force and K9 Unit.
