Thank you to The Cutlass Magazine for featuring my work as The Murti Maker alongside such talented artisans ๐๐ฝ.
I completely respect that everyone has their own budget and preferences when purchasing murtis. What I hope to share is the artistโs perspective: imported murtis are molded options that can be produced quickly and in large quantities, while handcrafted pieces can take 100 to 200+ hours of sculpting, painting, and finishing, all done by hand with devotion.
Both types of murtis have their place, but supporting local artisans helps preserve traditional skills, sustains our culture, and ensures that every piece carries the individuality and love poured into it. Even if not everyone can purchase a handcrafted murti, simply understanding the time, skillset and care behind them means so much to us as artists. โจ๏ธ๐
