Akimbo Akimbo, opened its doors in November 2015 as a retail shop and exhibition space. We support the strongest independent brands across fashion and lifestyle.

Our Story

Akimbo, the brainchild of Karen Kennedy, is an Independent boutique, creative hub and artistic event space located in the heart of the Borough of Arima. Our mission is to provide access to Caribbean art and fashion to those who reside in East Trinidad, as currently there is no creative hub in this part of the country. As an independent and creatively led project, the concept focuses on

providing a platform for local and regional talent to be exposed to the general public in a new way. We will achieve this by appealing to the sensibilities of the everyday man and woman on the street who would have once thought that indigenous fashion and art was inaccessible. Our vision is to support independent brands and designers, and establish the Caribbean as an international centre for independent design and manufacture. Architecturally, the Akimbo space covers 850 sq ft, resembles an art gallery and features an ever changing roster of a curated collection of brands, unavailable elsewhere in East Trinidad. In addition, we will host a programme of educational, creative and cultural events. The space will also be available for meetings and small events which Akimbo will plan for clients.

CONNECTIONS will feature an art exhibition by Visual Artist, and Photographer, . Exhibition can be viewed until August 31st, 2019, from 10am - 3pm, Monday - Friday and Saturday 1pm - 6pm. And grab a bite to eat at Thrones Restaurant while your there.
